Microsoft released the demo for Flight Simulator X today at 5pm pst. For all you fans of the MS Flight Sim realm, you will be utterly amazed. It takes a mean system to run it also. Check out the trailers at Gamespot and u can download the demo there or at Fileplanet. Enjoy.

2 words. Visually stunning.

If you have the rig to run this cranked up on Hi i recommend you turn it up as far as you can and enjoy another episode in the excellent sim series that is Microsoft Flight Sim. Im a little preturbed that they are offering 2 versions. The more expensive version will cost more and have more aircraft, missions and fully rendered airports and cities. If they are gearing this into the multiplayer online world, why award people that pay more. The online FlightSim community is humungous and it seems they are not listening to us. The addons that we have incorporated into the older versions did just that, made it a multiplayer enjoyment. Virtual airlines have been around for many years but if you purchase the cheaper version, you will not have the options to be ATC i think. Thats just not right. Guess we shall see what happens upon final release. The FS community will probably mod the crap outta the cheaper version to make it as good if not better than the more expensive one. Again, we shall wait and see.

Happy Flying/Simming

I've been with MS flight sim since the age of the dinosaurs! Now we have the FS X. I've seen the screen shots but ain't too impressed.

Third party software for scenery enhancement for my current MS Flight Sim 2004 (ACOF) is really mindblowing, so the sceneries in FS X is no big deal.

What I really wanted was some fighter aircraft with actual rocket / missile firing capability to have been included as well some dogfight scenarios with different fighter aircraft.

Other flight sims for this are available but can't hold a candle to the MS flight sims especially where flight dynamics and sceneries are concerned.

Has anyone any idea where I could download some third party software for 'functional' fighter aircraft?

Thanx in anticipation!

Well I just picked up a copy of the Deluxe version tonite, along with a copy of bf2142. I will finish building my new rig saturday afternoon. Processor will be in Friday. Ill report back on how good it looks versus how it looks on my old rig. My old rig ran it pretty crappy. But my graffix card that died in the fire definitely would have ran it better. This new rig should lay the smackdown on it for performance so i can crank it all up and waller in the splendor of the graffix and simulation play.

Ok. Lets know how the FS X looks on your cranked up system!
What graphics card have you installed? ATI or nVidia? As for me I'm a diehard fan of the latter!

Little Update, Sorry for not responding yesterday. Drove 8hrs total and spent 13hrs at a tech show in LA yesterday. Started building my rig today when the processor came. ripped my chassis down, cleaned it out, put everything together and what do u know, my brand new 600watt Power supply is deader than a doornail:bash:

Pulled out the 500watter that survived the fire and got the rig up and running. Im Kinda partial to Ati but i use both. Ive seen good and bad from both sides over the years. I see whats gonna give me the most bang for my buck at the time of build Mike. I went with the ATI x1900xtx 512meg. The 48 pipelines versus nvidias 24. Sittin here on my laptop i brought everything to finish loading the OS and all my software, and i forgot the freakin dvi cable to my spare LCD...DAMMIT. So the nites shot to hell, gonna go watch the repeat of Battlestar and goto bed. I should be playing by tomorrow nite. Ill post ya an update with some possible screenshots. I gotta get me some 2142 time in tomorrow nite too.

almost forgot, heres what i built. Asus p5b deluxe motherboard. Intel e6600 processor Overclocked it of course. 2gig of OCZ ddr2-800 ram. Already had the raptors so i decided to raid them stripe since i seem to run low with just one 74 for the C. I have a 400 gig for D Storage. The game and program installs are so dam huge anymore you practically need a 100 gig just to have some breathing room on the drive. In a TT Tsunami Chassis. Thats my main rig, i have 4 others around the house for various other purposes. All Varying in specs. Gonna shift the old 3.2 prescott with 2gig of corsair xms pro down to the server chassis, since it didnt survive the onslaught of firefighter water.
