I challenge you to find ONE example where Israel launched an attack that was not in response to an attack on them. [edit on 9-8-2006 by Freedom_for_sum]

The Beit Lahiya beach massacre, Israel bombing West Beirut 1982....

The Beit Lahiya "massacre" as you put it was nothing more than the continued tit-for-tat fighting between Israel & Palestinians that has been going on for years. Regardless, Israel removed its settlers (with much peril) and gave Gaza to the Palestinians. Yet, despite this move toward peace, the Palestinians continued their Islamic attacks on Israel. The complete destruction of Israel continues to be part Hamas's charter.

You want more? Find one Hizbollah attack that wasn't due to Israeli occupation.

Where have you been the past month? Israel ws NOT occupying Lebanon when Hezbollah decided to kidnap two Israeli soldiers and launch rockets across the border.

This is a tired tired argument that gets us nowhere. Each side has their greivance, yet one side is armed to the teeth and is killing thirty times more people than the other side and we are meant to believe that THEY are the ones hard done by?? Nonsense.

I agree it's a tired argument but one that must continue.....

So Hezbollah is losing 30 times more people? Maybe they'll think twice (if they ever get another chance) before they commit an act of war.

George Galloway is a bit of a tit but he is spot on in his analysis of the revolting bias/spin of the Murdoch empire. He'd get my vote over Bliar every time.

I'm not familiar with the use of the word "tit" in the context you used it. If you mean he's a bit of a jackass--then I agree.

You go ahead and get your information from sources like the BBC and I'll continue to rely on history, government sources, and mutliple media outlets for my information.

As far as the West Beirut attack in 1982: Again; this was in response to PLO strongholds who had been launching regular attacks against Israel for almost twenty years!!

You are very selctive in the history you choose to remember/have knowledge of.

From YOUR source:

In 1952, officers in the Egyptian army overthrew the monarchy of King Farouk who had been a close ally of the British. Abandoning policies co-operative with European powers, the new government asserted an independent and Arab nationalist identity. This led to conflict with the European powers over the Suez Canal. Especially once Israel's port of Eilat was completed in the mid 50s, conflict also heated up over the only gateway to it, the Straits of Tiran.

Meanwhile, the so-called Gaza Strip - a part of the former British mandate, now occupied by Egypt - became a haven for masses of Palestinian refugees and a hotbed for guerilla activity against the fledgling Jewish state. In response, from 1953–1956 the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a number of strikes.

This is what Islamic nations are good at: They support guerrilla warfare through the use of insurgents/terrorists and claim they haven't attacked anyone. Guerilla activities are attacks and will ellicit a response; as Hebollah is finding out.

The Gaza Strip is not part of Israel and Egypt did not attack Israel. You asked for proof of Israel attacking a country who did not attack it and I gave you one. Have you got proof the guerillas were of Egyptian origin and sanctioned by Egypt? Until you provide that you've got nothing.

Read the Protocol of Sèvres for yourself if you want. Britain and France approached David Ben-Gurion and asked Israel to attack Egypt so that Britain and France could pretend to intercede in the conflict and reoccupy the Suez Canal. Ben-Gurion kept his copy of the Protocol of Sèvres as insurance that Israel would not bare complete responsibilty for the unprovoked attack on Egypt. PM Eden burnt his copy of the protocol because he knew it was proof positive of a false flag war. Not until Eden died did Ben-Gurion go public with the protocol to show that Israel was working in conjuction with France and Britain when it illegally invaded Egypt.
