I don't know how to get a picture under my name. Do I copy and paste whatever I find on the internet? And how do I get a signature? Thanks

phunky monkey, you can add a signature and picture in the same place. Once logged in, look towards the upper right hand side of the page for a link that says 'your control...' - then click on that link. After that page has loaded look for a click on a link called 'edit profile.'

To add a picture look for the 'avatar url' field and enter an url/hyperlink for an image you would like to have appear under your name. Right below that is where you can add a signature.

I must be dumb as a stump. I am loged in (Mac OS X), and I see nothing - no link at all on the right side of the page that starts "your control..."

Can you elaborate or explain?

Thura...

Click Here if you want to add yourself an avatar or signature.

Can I ask why you posted in a 5 year old thread to ask that?

Wow that was a quick response! I found it under Account Settings in Member Center. I posted in respose to a search for information about how to add a signature.
(Five years old or not, the info is now updated on this thread, and you answered my question promptly.)
Thanks!

I'm having trouble getting an image to display in the signature section. I've found the place where I can add it to my profile. I've got a URL for the image, and I've tried simply pasting it into the box but that only shows the URL as a URL. I tried putting [img] tags around it, but that didn't work either. All I got by using that was a External Image

I'm guessing I have to use some kind of HTML tag, but I don't know how to do it.

HELP Please...

The [ img ] without spaces of course worked for me. What is the size? I believe the limit is 50X500.

Edit, Just looked at your image, size is no good. Mine is almost exactly 50X500 so at least you have an idea of the canvas.

Thanks for the quick responses. I've been trying different things to get it to work. One of the things I tried was an image from someone else's post. I was just testing to see if I could get it to work. I couldn't.

The image they had was 89 X 50.

The image I want to use is 300 X 180.

Image size restrictions do make sense. I'll try something that's smaller. Only problem is that I WANT the one I started trying to use.

Image I want to use below.

This SHOULD have worked. I added the image like I had before. I KNOW I've posted images that were larger than this, but now I get a link.

Maybe someone ADJUSTED my profile to limit image size since I posted one that was too big.

Mine is the top post.

Thanks to both of you for your input.

I'm going to do some investigation about image size limits and more experimentation.

Looks like you're belief was dead on.

GIF and JPEF file formats for any image with a maximum dimension of 500 pixels wide by 50 pixels tall. File size is not to exceed 25k, and animated GIF's are allowed.

From Avatar and Signature Guidelines

Looks like I've got to find another sig.

OK, this is really starting to get annoying.

I've trimmed an image I like down to be below the image dimension and size limits and it still didn't work. I even tried trimming the size further with no luck.

I was out of ideas, so I tried using someone else's sig file. The easiest was the bright orange one from Kellter's post several posts above this one. Since it worked for one member then it should work for me too.

IT DIDN'T WORK.

I was just testing it and planned to remove his sig once I've seen it work. Since it didn't I've left it as proof that I've got a problem.

That's why I'm posting again asking for help or suggestion.

Here, copy and paste the following code into your signature form thingy:

[ats]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/uploads/ats48768_Final.jpg[/ats]

Edit: I just noticed that's Kelter's sig. No matter, the concept remains the same. You just have to use BBcode in the form as you would in a post.

Thanks, that worked.

Did I miss this somewhere?
I looked through the help section. All I found was info about Avatars.

I'm not sure where the info is located.. I kinda forgot. BBcode is now second nature to me

Your sig is still not working. The [center] tag only works for text. Currently, as far as I know, there isn't a tag to centre images. But there are tags to align it left or right. To use Kelter's sig as an example again:

[imgl]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/uploads/ats48768_Final.jpg[/img]

will align it left of the text body

while

[imgr]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/uploads/ats48768_Final.jpg[/img]

will align it to the right.

There are three other [img] tags: [imgt], [imgb] and [imgm] for top, bottom and middle, respectively.

One more thing, if you're experiencing problems with images you've uploaded to your upload space, as in you get "File not found," welcome to my world. I've given up on that and I now use photobucket.com or imageshack.us.

There must be an easier way to do this!!!!

I think they did it the hardest way possible on purpose

just because they can

If that is simple to you, I'd hate to see what you call drama!!!

I guess the KISS principle is not popular around here....

I know this was posted YEARS ago, and even the last post was months ago,
but I'm happy I found how to align the images left or right, BUT, ats doesn't
use the [img] tags anymore...

Does anyone know how to align images
left or right that use the new [atsimg] tags?
