Although interesting it doesnt give any evidence or even explanations for most of its claims.

Id really like to know how a plant can think about "conquering terretory", or just how anyone knows that "the ground-hugging mayapple plans its growth two years into the future".

First we have to know what "thinking" really is, only after that can we say that plants can "think".

I had already read about that investigation (I do not remember where) where they concluded that the plants used could "sense" their environment and react according to it. For example, if they sensed an animal capable of destroying them, they would do something like releasing a different odour to try to make that animal run away.

But if anything reacts to an external condition in a specific does not mean that that thing is thinking, it is only reacting.

As someone on my family said once, "if the tree is near the well I do not need to water it, it can go to the well to fetch the water for itself".

not just an article but an entire book was writen on the research done about plant intelligence. it's called The Secret Life of Plants by Thompkins and Bird. not sure but it may be mentioned in that same book about a particular flower that was dying out across the nation because the bees were not pollinating it. the flower began to spontaneous change it's color to attract the bees and it worked. if it was just a reaction and not some form of intelligence, how would the flowers have picked a winning color? why would all of the flowers in that group change colors and not just one or two if there were no type of communication between them? no matter what you conclude happens in the plant world, the book is worth reading.

sure plants evolve to ward off enamies, makes sence in order to survive

they said for years that talking to plants stimulates them

this does make me think of the walking trees in lotr

They did and experiment on mythbuster about talking to plants, and playing music. They had controls plants, with no interaction at all, plants with peacefull music, violent music (metal),and angry/happy talking. The plants were given the same amount of water through a mist system, and the same sunlight. I cant recall exactly which control grew the best, but i do know for sure that the plants with no contact whatsoever were the worst.
