Yep, it's disgraceful all right...Especially when you consider that the article mentions that one of the "cheats" used may even be inserting flaws
in the data recieved by Berkley...
What is needed is a way to upgrade the software to prevent such cheats from corrupting the WU's before getting uploaded back to Berkley.
This is indeed pretty pathetic - I don't have any links (am looking for them now) but I seem to remember that some of these issues have been
addressed in more recent software builds by Seti@home. Although they weren't able to address the issue directly at the time, purely updating the
source code of the software made it more difficult for these lamers to risk bringing the name of Seti into disrepute. I'll post anything additional I
come across.
