Greetings all, hope everyone is well.

I would like to pose a question, which is mainly directed at members of the Masonic Fraternity, as well as any other members of various movements such as Ordo Templi Orientis or Scientology. I would also like to welcome anyone in general to post on this thread.

I can't recall posting a question about Freemasonry on here, and simliarly, this is not actually about Freemasonry, but directed to you as individuals.

This site is full of various predictions and prophecies, as well as threads about general doom impending in the world around us, yet most of you seem to hold yourselves back from these discussions and generally post more in this, the secret societies section.

My question to you all is, what is your opinion on the state of the world? Is there anything happening politically or socially that worries you? Do you see World War III impending? Are you scared of Global Warming? What is it that worries you the most about the way we're headed? If indeed there is anything at all.

In other words, do any of you subscribe to a commonly held view on this site that for some reason, there will soon be some kind of catastrophic event to the world order, plunging the world into chaos? If so, what do you think it will be?

Also, conspiracies about who might be behind it aside, do any of you believe in the idea of a progression into a New World Order/One World Government?

I would like to reiterate that this thread is directed to Freemasons, but absolutely anyone is welcome to post their ideas about the above questions.

This is a question I have been meaning to pose for a while, so responses would be appreciated.

Lets keep it friendly, let the posting begin!

I don't think anyone on ats would accuse me of holding back my views from any discussion and it has been months since Ive posted to secret societies. Perhaps it just seems as you describe, because freemasons arent as easy to identify in threads concerning non-masonic topics.

My question to you all is, what is your opinion on...

The real conspiracy is corporate. Corporation have more rights & power than the individual, so they have pretty much purchased our leaders to do their bidding. This is the ignored real conspiracy. In the US visit OpenSecrets to see who owns your legislative representatives.

there will soon be some kind of catastrophic event to the world order, plunging the world into chaos?

The "powers that be" are not going to relinquish control willingly, so perhaps this type of leveling would be a good thing.

Hi Doc

Personally, for me, its all a matter of available time. I'd like very much to take more of an active role in ATS in the other areas, but already some of the other forums I frequent have been seeing less of me as ATS has slowly become my #1 visit. However due to 'life' getting in the way, I tend to drop in and drop out of the forum very quickly several times a day. This will change one way or the other, and I will either disappear completely or find more time to get into the other areas.

I think SS will always be my main interest at ATS as that is the reason I came here - tired with the lies and feeling a profound sense of injustice that the more nonsense is spoken about freemasonry the more that genuine people get hoodwinked. I decided to 'put up' instead of 'shut up'.

To answer your specific question, I have grave concerns about certain governments and abuse of power. Corporations will get out of life what they possibly can, and power corrupts. There are many areas of life where the vigilance of sites like ATS REALLY REALLY can make a difference to society (no I'm not exaggerating). But there is an awful amount of incompetence around which sometimes looks like conspiracy, and yes I do believe that coincidences happen (sometimes).

However, even though I am an avid SciFi fan and reader, I don't have much time for most of the Alien Invasion theories. However I do understand the interest and 'wishful thinking' involved here - who wouldn't want to travel to the stars!

Lots of stuff. I miss the good old days when all we had to worry about was the Soviet Union.

Do you see World War III impending?

Not necessarily, but certainly possible. My only opinion echoes what Einstein said: I don't know with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Are you scared of Global Warming?

Yes. Global warming could be a countdown to doomsday just as easily as a world war if we don't be begin to take it seriously.

In other words, do any of you subscribe to a commonly held view on this site that for some reason, there will soon be some kind of catastrophic event to the world order, plunging the world into chaos?

Not necessarily. It just depends upon whether people will finally unite and do the right thing, or continue down the road of self-destruction. It's humanity's own choice.

Also, conspiracies about who might be behind it aside, do any of you believe in the idea of a progression into a New World Order/One World Government?

No, although there are plenty of much smaller scale conspiracies. The idea of one world government is actually opposed to most conspirators, as political conspirators tend to be nationalists.

Global warming is the biggie, IMO. It's happening now and we are too busy playing politics to fully appreciate the danger. In many democracies, however (and particularly the US) the democratic process has become institutionalized to the point whereby the choice is becoming No Choice and all candidates appear to be very similar.

Can the rich countries of the West deal with the political and economic fallout of implementing the leadership and the changes necessary to avoid global catastrophe? I hope so...

Thanks for you replies guys!

The thread isn't going as well as I had hoped however, so I think I'll pose a new question.

What do you think of the increased level of surveillance our society is currently going through?

Good/Bad/Negligible?

I would also like to reiterate that absolutely any member is welcome to post in this thread.

Surveillance has always been necessary for intelligence agencies to do their jobs. However, the problem with it today comes from when Constitutional requirements are ignored. If someone is really a threat, the feds can get a court order, and carry out surveillance legally. Illegal surveillance, one of the principles of an administration who apparently feel they are above the law, is an extremely dangerous thing.

Unfortunately, at present, they are not being held accountable for their many breaches of constitutional protections. This is in large part due to the fact that the president's party also controls Congress and the Supreme Court, eliminating all real checks and balances. I cannot stress enough how important it is for everyone all over the USA to go to the ballot box in November and restore the balance of powers.

Well - your society maybe. My society has had a high level of CCTV cameras in place for quite a while, primarily due to fanatical Irish republicans who thought they would like to share some of their semtex with us
The concept that terrorism is a 21st century phenomenon is purely an americano-centric one based on the tragic events on 9/11 (or should that be 11/9?
).

Quite frankly it's a trade-off. Do I want England to turn into Big Brother? No. Do I want the drunken buffoon who takes a swing at me on a Saturday night caught for posterity on film? Yes please, and would you mind awfully throwing the book at the blighter too, M'Lud?

As to whether the US government is playing on fears of terrorism to increase their hold on the People? Personally I don't think so, although it's quite possible that lucrative security contracts end up going to the 'right' people. I think this is a US 'we hate big government' constitution-type argument - other countries are quite used to big government, big taxes, big waste* (and no constitution) so I guess you guys are playing catch up

(*Big Dig excepted
)

Thanks ML and Trinityman, great replies as usual.

Trinity, just for the record, I'm not in the US, I'm in Australia, Britains younger child, left to fend for itself, who is now getting into trouble with following our older, American brother.

There's me going making assumptions again...

Personally, I think both Australia and the US have done much better without the interference of the motherland. I'm afraid all that's left in blighty now is a bunch of whinging poms

Really it's pretty much normal. Israel has their panties in a wad.. but nothing new about that.

Is there anything happening politically or socially that worries you?

The gradual erosion's of our freedoms (Speaking of the U.S.), and a gradual change to making this country a theocracy. (But this is really nothing new.. it's been going on for quite some time)

Do you see World War III impending?

Nope... just "normal" hostilities.

Are you scared of Global Warming?

Scared? I'd have to say no. Humans will adapt and overcome if it happens. (I'm also leaning to the side that it's a normal cyclic happening, if it exists at all.)

What is it that worries you the most about the way we're headed? If indeed there is anything at all.

Loss of freedoms/liberty, and a general Big Brother knows what is best for you thing.

In other words, do any of you subscribe to a commonly held view on this site that for some reason, there will soon be some kind of catastrophic event to the world order, plunging the world into chaos? If so, what do you think it will be?

Nope, nothing like that.

Nope, Governments have enough problems just running a tiny town.. Any attempt to rule the whole world would crumble in a bureaucratic mess.

What do you think of the increased level of surveillance our society is currently going through?

It sucks

By the Pricking of my thumb, something wicked doth this way come.
This may sound rather obtuse but as a Mason you would expect nothing less from me after what the PTB and media have done to create a aura of sinister foreboding around the one and only organization that puts ability and knowledge above birthright. Yes to address the question the entire world is undergoing a paradigm SHIFT old institutions are collapsing under the weight of lies and greed the corporate world and governement and lets not forget religion all three are the underpinnings of the society we live in everyone of them are glued together by the global banking system it also will go to hell . There are plenty of threads where members, masonic and otherwise, can express their opinions on the subjects covered. Global Warming can be covered in a large number of threads in the Fragile Earth Forum, or conceivably in the Political Conspiracy Forum. World War III has popped up a bunch in the Middle East Forum, extreme Corporatism could be covered in the NWO forum or the other political forums, etc etc.
