Im supposed to be a Christian and whenever I see pictures of angles and Jesus and I get scared. Like its a scary picture and when I see pictures of demonds and death I dont get scared its kind of cool in a way. I always been afriad, even when I was 3. Anyforms of angels or Jesus I get spooked. So why does this happen? Im I sick? When I got confirmed as a Catholic and after they put that stuff on my forehead I found myself rubbing it off right away. Whenever it was time during PSR to get ashes on my forehead as a blessing I would always rub it off b/c it itches really bad like its not supposed to itch for everyone else. And why do I find myself liking dark things and not angelic and divine things. So someone tell me really fast what they think on this.

You say "I am supposed to be a Christian...."

What does this mean? Does it mean that Christianity is being pushed on you and you resent it, does it mean that you feel as though it is right to be a Christian, does it mean that you feel you have no choice but to be a Christian?

If you want to be a Christian, then be one. Do you believe that you can't have a relationship with God unless you like to have ashes on your face? What if God doesn't care about ashes and only wants you to love him?

well wildcat, If this is happening to you then I wouldnt consider it too odd. For example many people find that dark looking artistic work is more enjoyable to look at and draw then say you would an angel. I know if I am drawing (which I suck at) its funner to draw ghastly looking swords etc. then clean cut ones. The thing you need to remember is that this isnt a real look at these things. They are ART, pictures, coming from peoples imaginations and put on paper. However here are a few versus about the fear of God.

Proverbs:8:13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

10:27 The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.

14:2 He whose walk is upright fears the Lord, but he whose ways are devious despises him.

14:16 A wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless.

22:4 Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.

This is just from one book, many many other verses on the fear of the LORD.

No offense but if I were you and had black orbs chasing me, id find the angelic beings comforting, much more so then dark demonic interpertaions of evil spirits.

You forgot this one!
Chruch practice rule #1: The fear of the Lord provides us money to buy a new Ford.
Harr!

Wildcat, the best thing you could do is grab a beer, crank some Gorgoroth and go hunting for spiders. Don't think about it too much. Cheers mate

I'm with wellwhatnow on this. You are supposed to be what YOUR heart and mind want you to be. I was supposed to be a Christian as well - when I came of age, when my heart and mind made its choices for me, I rebelled against religion in all forms, as the one that created me does not care about religion, my creator cares about me - I claim nor serve any religion.

It's for YOU to be what YOU want to be

Perhaps this uneasy feeling is your heart and mind trying to talk to you.

Ask this of most religious people, the answer will surely be along the lines of "Satan is in your heart, he is trying to persuade you against Christ, repent now!!" and then give you the offering plate. Ugh.

Don't do what the church tells you, do what your heart tells you, I mean c'mon, who knows what's better for you --- the church ........ or you?

Man if that ain't the truth - sad ain't it ?!?! Ever seen a preacher driving a humble car?
The church I was in as a kid, the preacher had a brand new Cougar EVERY YEAR !!! The first church it was a Lincoln Continental EVERY YEAR !!! What did we have? a rusted Maverick and then a broken down Datsun like most of the rest of the congregation.

First off:

Main Entry: fear
Pronunciation: 'fi(&)r
Function: noun
1 : an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger and accompanied by increased autonomic activity
2 : an instance of fear —fear verb

8:13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Ok now let's quote another fictional charachter

This, as opposed to the earlier quoted proverbs is actually a proven fact. Let's use it.
Fear leads to Anger. Fear of God leads to Anger towards God? Towards Satan? Lets just say Anger in general.
Anger leads to Hate. Take a look at Proverb 8:13 again. "I hate pride and arrogance". Hate pride? Sure if it said "I hate gay pride" I wouldn't argue it, since Christians aren't known to be the most tolerant people to walk the surface of this earth and gays are clearly possesed by Satan. But hate pride? I have served my country for 5 months in Afghanistan. I'm proud to have represented my country in this matter. But oops, I'm not supposed to be proud! Stuff me in a box and shut me up, DO NOT SPEAK! Where is the logic?
Hate leads to Suffering. Yeah it sure as hell isn't comfortable being denied my ability to express self-confidence. The Law of Jante anyone?

14:2 He whose walk is upright fears the Lord, but he whose ways are devious despises him.

He whose walk is upright. You mean he who is proud? That certainly contradicts the good old 8:13.

22:4 Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.

Let's improvise:
Fear leads to Wealth. Are you allowed to be proud of this gained wealth? Beats me.
Wealth leads to Honor. Oh yeah apparently it is.
Honor leads to Life. Yay! Wait what? They probably meant "Humility and the fear of thr Lord brings wealth to the Church". Probably just a typo.

Panzeroth,

The Bible use of pride is not what you are thinking. It is not about pride in my last computer job, or proud of my childs grades -- it's about pride of self in the sense of vanity and ego, pride in the sense of not being humble.

I figured. But still, being proud about something you have accomplished applies to to your ego in the same way. Say for example you did good at a math test, you're proud of yourself, but the Bible interprets that as you look down on those who failed. And thats where yet again the Bible shows no sense of shade, only black and white. In most cases black (The Law of Jante)

LOL. "Your gonna use star wars to refute the Bible???? hahhahhaa.
Fear leads to anger anger leads to hate hate leads to suffering and suffering is the way of the dark side...."

Anyways, doesn't make sense to fear the Supreme being of the universe who knows all and nothing is hidden from him? For surley, He is the one giving you the breath you breahte now. Scary when you think aboout it, you are using it to curse Him.

I put "here's a quote from another fictional character", I never said I believed in Yoda or Star Wars for that mater. But still, he makes a lot more sense than God. He gave me the breath I breathe now eh? Then why should I fear him? When you were a kid did you fear your dad when he gave you a buck to buy candy or a nice present for christmas? No, you said thank you dad, that makes me really happy, and then you smiled that cute smile. Fear and love can not coexist.
Sure dad can get mad every once in a while when you tear down the curtains or pee outside the toilet bowl, but if the father/son relationship is overshadowed by fear theres a very small chance that any good will come out of it.

Thanks for laughing at my post by the way, Christians sure do know how to reach out to unbelievers. Twat.

Now going back to the subject, I am on the verge of rebelling religion and on the verge of going back to it. I cant make up my mind. Also I dont know what I'm am not supposed to do and what I am supposed to do with Christianity but I do know the difference between right and wrong. And about spider huntin, I rather go but a water gun and fill it up with lawnmower gas and then make fly bait in the trashcan for they will swarm over and flame them all while having they system up loud with black and death metal. And of course I would have to be drunk in order to do that in front of a busy kids playzone. lol!

BOYYY did you miss his point...geez is that the best you can do...once again trying to make us fear!!!

"he's is the one giving you the breath you breathe now. SCARY...errr *cough* when you think about it, you are using it to curse him."

Last time I checked the plants and trees that pump out oxygen and the equipment in my body, heart and lungs was giving me breath...which in return pumps out CO2 and then starts the cycle all over soooo yeah..... NOT SCARY!!

it goes a little something like this

6 CO2 + 12 H2O light chlorophyll----> C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6 H2O + 6 O2

Now what is scary is being stuck where no O is present (like strandard on a sub) and then dying from you own breath b/c of CO2.....

Ok soo I just realized that we are so busy arguing with each other and this poor guy is talking about black orbs chasing him and burning spiders while listening to metal.....

alright...sooooo

how old are you?
and for one second....just break away from all this confusion you have going on in your head.....
it's OK to not be Christian....
It's OK to listen to Metal.....
In my opinion it's NOT OK to burn spiders with lawnmower gas drunk in front of kids....(people get the wrong impression)
It's OK to question religion and god and everything you once believed

"Don't think about all those things you fear, just be glad to be here"

soo I'm assuming you are young...not that you are acting immature but the confusion you are screaming tells me you are a bit lost and probably b/w 15-19yrs old.....

I was there....in a different way...but look...just relax....ignore all the b/s do what you gotta do...school/work/whatever....and follow basic morals.....

Stop allowing all this crude to pollute your poor mind.

ever thought you might have an allergy to some type of plant oils?? hence the oil and ashes making you itch??!!

Or maybe your just not the type who like church and all it entails.?

What ever it is, you are you, and only you can decide to go or not, believe or not, fear or love. that is why being alive is so great. We get to choose our own paths in life!

How old am I? 21.

About smashing the ugly disgusting beasts spiders, thats why I said I have to be drunk.

Well it may not seem like it but I am 21 and I will never ever say I'm younger b/c I'm not. As for my sentence structures, if you were me and after writing that thesis, you would truley disire a summer off of strict rules on words. But b/c its the internet, I believe that internet doesnt require discrete vocabulary and heavy duty big words that no one knows they exist, I dont have to write the way I'm supposed to.

And all this Christian stuff people are spitting at you seems to be even more confusing....

Look I've been down a similar road...so if you ever want to talk about it...just hit me up in u2u...(if you like)

It could be as simple as, "You shall have no craven images before me."

There are lots of people who cringe at pictures of Jesus and angels because they feel that they are worshipping an image, not the Diety.

These same people have no real emotional connection with the devil pics, because they are doing what they are supposed to do, create craven images.

It's like going into a Church of Christ (NOT latterday Sts.), randomly....you aren't likely to find anything on the walls in the main hall. And some places if you put anything up, they freak out.

Some people have delicate skin, as well.
