Farnborough thread

The only bit of news I've heard that's not covered here is that the Empire Test Pilots School are getting some SAAB Gripens to play with. Lovely little planes.

Its props turn in flight...basically turning a helicopter into a plane, and vice versa.

Unfortunately I did not take any photo's. However I was given a DVD for the X-Hawk (someone posted a photo of the Farnborough mock up on this Forum).

I see the Skunkworks have released a picture of another UAV called Polecat
www.air-attack.com...

It seems to be a cross between the X47B and Global Hawk. Interestingly, I remember in Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003 mysterious reports of fighter pilots encountering unknown UAV's at very high altitude. This makes me think that 'Polecat' has been in Service for a few years already.

If anyone wants a laugh at Airbus' expense (no, perish the thought! ) How about the fact that the A380 is scheduled to depart for Dubai to conduct hot weather trials immediately after the show, while temperatures at Farnborough soared to 40 C /104 F yesterday!
