Here's a Fun list of reasons why the MONKEES are better than the Beatles....

This is NOT to be taken seriously, or as a REAL jab at The Beatles.... (I happen to be a Beatles fan, but have a fun sense of humor)

SO..... Just for fun....... Here's the list.
(Feel free to jump in & add MORE if you can think of any!!!!)

Did any family member of the Beatles invent any cool office products? NO! (BUT, Michael Nesmith’s mother DID in fact invent “Liquid Paper”)

Did the Beatles ever ride down the street on a bed? NO!

No member of the Beatles ever performed at a school dance on the Brady Bunch.

Do the Beatles have a song in the movie Shrek? NO! (Smashmouth covered the MONKEES' "Im a Believer")

The Monkees weren’t in the movie “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band”!!!!

Did the Beatles ever have their own TV show? NO!

The Beatles didn’t have a trademark “walk”. (However, the Monkees, side by side with arms around each other’s shoulders, walked in a “leg over leg” crossover fashion).

There was never a “Beatlemobile”.

Did the Beatles ever help Scooby Doo & the gang, solve a mystery? NO!

Monkeys eat Beatles.

The Beatles never had a “theme song”.

Michael Jackson doesn’t own the Monkees music catalog.

The Monkees’ logo is in the shape of a guitar!

The Monkees have no affiliation with Yoko Ono!

Does a member of the Beatles have a locker named after them? NO! (But Davy Jones does….)

Nobody in the Monkees was responsible for the most boring SuperBowl halftime show in history!

At the time of this list, ALL 4 members of the Monkees are still alive.

The Monkees are from AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Sure, Davy Jones is British, but he lived in California, and the band was still from America!)

Geez I grew up in the late 60's and early 70's.

When I did find out (when I was I think 12 or 13) that the Beatles were British, I could'nt believe it!

It's all I ever heard on the radio back then.

And I used to like watching the Monkees, btw.

This thread makes me feel like I'm a kid again.

Yeah, I LOVED watching the show when I was a kid!

You were suprised to learn the Beatles were British?....
Well, I personally was surprised when I learned Lionel Richie was BLACK!
LOLOLOLOL!!!!!

So I can kinda' relate!

I actually tried making similar lists with other "bands" but I couldn't think of any others that would work like these 2.......

So, this is what I came up with. (so far... heehee)

The Back Boys!!!.... Hmmmmm....
Who else had a similar sound,& style?

That's the beauty of the Monkees & Beatles, they had some similarities, so it's easier to come up with little things like that.

OR... this could be fun too..... Reasons why "Wierd Al Yankovich" is better than (insert artist name)

The more ridiculous the one artist is, the funnier it can be (I think so anyway.. haha)

OBVIOUSLY the Beatles were WAAAAAAY more successful..... so trying to come up with reasons why the Monkees are "better" was fun.

I like the Beach Boys Idea though too...... Way to be thinking!!!

And neither were The Beatles. It was the BeeGees who starred in that movie, not The Beatles. I know it doesn't make sense, but look it up, it's true.

Ya know what...? That's true! I DO remember the BeeGees being in it.
I was thinking about it as being "connected" to the Beatles, & in the fury of looking for more funny tid-bits, my brain had short term mental blockage & I forgot that the Beatles themselves we NOT in the movie......
.... even though it was their songs.

I'll have to make an edit to that entry!!

LOL!!!

Thanks for the scoop!

It turns out that the Beatles WERE in fact, in the SGT. Pepper Movie!!!
How about that!!?

Check this link on the Internet Movie DataBase (IMDB)
www.imdb.com...

You have to go down to the bottom of the "CAST Credits", but they are indeed listed.

So I don't have to edit my list after all!

Hahaha!!!

That's a relief, because that was one of my personal favorites.
;o)

You know, I'd expect this from Paul and Linda McCartney, but George? He was one of my favorites. If he wasn't dead, I'd sneak into his house and stab him. :bash:

j/k

Edit: Only Paul and George were in it, and I think just as cameos, still sad though.

OOOHHH!!! Sick humor...... LOL! (But funny nonetheless!)

Yeah, I think they only had minor appearances, but technically they were in it.
It's been YEARS since I saw that.... I'd say at least 25-28 yrs, so I don't remember much about it.
