Ok, so they tested it in mice, who wants to volunteer first to see if it works in humans?

If this truly does work, a cure shouldn't be too far off I'm hoping. Imagine the millions of people that have AIDS now, plucked from the hands of death with the help of a super tomato.

Unfortunately it's a Vaccine which prevents people from contracting it in the first place.
So those who have it now,are out of luck.

not only is it a 'preventative' .... and not a 'curative', like you (TAC) said

but one snip says something about

some 90 vaccines for HIV (not AIDS !) have proven ineffective
(i.e. not able to be inserted into the tomato's gene code)

?

Oh, but i never said it was a cure. I said "If this truly does work, a cure shouldn't be too far off I'm hoping."

How can this vaccine be tested, without using humans...I wouldn't be racing to the front of the line to see if it works.

I dunno. Something about this entire premise just doesn't sit well with me. Do we really need to, rather want to, go to such lengths to alter our food supply? Think about it. It scares the heck out of me that we have Omega-3 enriched eggs out in the market. Take flaxseed supplements for crying out loud.

What we need to be asking ourselves is this: At what point do we ethically cross the line when genetically engineering our food supply?
