Wait... no.

They said that they are not participating in the talks for July. They will have a decision made in August. I don't usually point out a misleading headline, but this one immediately caught my eye, as my first thought was "that must be breaking, I heard August."

Are you really surprised? Doesn't surprise me at all. Now we need to all look at our scripts, and read what will be said.. Condoleeza Rice will make a statement that this is unacceptable and unfortunate, because the administration had such high hopes in preventing this war... just watch.

Actually they just said that they will not respond by next week, and will respond in August.

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said his nation had questions about the proposal, made on June 6, that needed to be settled in talks early next month with Javier Solana

The Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously and carefully reviewing the proposed package,” he said. “I’ve said that such response will be in August.”

Hopefully they (US, Russia, China and Co) can wait patiently

EDIT: Looks like niteboy82 beat me to it

Here is what was translated:

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously and carefully reviewing the proposed package,” he said. “I’ve said that such response will be in August.” He also added “the time until August is not a long time for such a response.”

Here is the real meaning of what he said:

"Bomb us right now, right this very moment. We want to wait until August because we will have our missiles ready to go then, so bomb the heck out of is immediatly..."

Thats what he really meant to say, and thats how the west is going to take it.

Iran: Duck and cover my friends...

Word on the street is that US Secretary of State has been slapped on the face.

Poor girl.

She went on live television offering Iran chance to come to the negotiating table.

Now Iran's Ayatollah said no way jose.

He thinks its no use sitting down with Rice on your table. He wants something else.

He doesn't see any point talking to the US.

Iran should reject all accords offered to it; it has every right to enrich uranium, as does every country in the world for power generation purposes as is stated in the NPT, or did we forget that already? The United States is trying to impose Iran as a terrorist country and it's failing miserably.

With this kind of spin; who needs the MSM ?

unfortunately, you ARE right in the fact that; this is how the U.S. will probably take it.

I hope cooler heads prevail(but I have come to not expect that from our current leadership).

*Side Note: The title of this thread is very misleading did you do this on purpose?
Or, did you not red the story, nyk537?

It appears that Iran is trying to do anything to buy more time. But I would not fear an attack from US any time soon. Iran has plenty of time to contemplate its future.

I disagree,
I feel they are buying time.
And successfully.

This package was put into basic terms.

You agree, take our GENEROUS offer, and we will build relations , and through time and trust allow you to complete your goal

You dont agree to our Generous offer, we will islotae you, sanction you, and should the need arise bomb you.

Very simple.

They get what they want if they accept.
Then again, that is if they are after a PEACEFUL NUCLEAR PROGRAMME

Theyve had this offer for a month,
if thye cant answer in 1 more week, then its plainfully obvious there's undertones here that they arent admitting to.

I say, give them until the July 5th date,
if they refuse, move on sanctions and isolation, if they still refuse to stop, come july 21st, bomb the absolute crap out of their nuclear stations.

If they refuse to stop THEN,
hit the leaders.

America cannot attack Iran, if one bomb hits their soild say good bye to all the oil your getting from Saudi Arabia. They will blow all their reserves and cripple the US economically. Iran already has it's men in place in SA as well as the Saudi leaderships blessing.

America went after a country that was not a threat as opposed to the ones that are. You may support bombing the hell out of them but it won't happen. Iranians support their governments bid for nuclear energy no matter the cost. They have made it clear they will not stand for any attack on their soil. If you think the insurgents are bad in Iraq wait till you have 60 million pissed off Iranians with AK-47's waiting for the GI's to enter their cities. Not to mention Iran has a formidable military, airforce and navy as well. Iran is a war that for the time being cannot be won. Russia, China and other nations realize this. I don't doubt for a second that that the CIA as well as other intel agencies realize this as well.

Iran for at least a decade won't pose any threat to anyone. It is in my opinion everyone just let it go.
