According to the Associated Press, a new plan drawn up by Palestinian officials from Hamas and Fatah recognizes Israel as a soveriegn state

New Hamas-Fatah plan recognizes Israel
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - The rival Hamas and
Fatah movements agreed on a plan implicitly recognizing
Israel, a top Palestinian official said Tuesday after weeks of acrimonious negotiations aiming to lift crippling international aid sanctions.

Fatah and Hamas officials praised the agreement, but it was overshadowed by a crisis triggered by militants' abduction of an Israeli soldier.

Moderate President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah has been trying to coax his Hamas rivals into endorsing the document, which calls for a Palestinian state alongside Israel, in effect recognizing the Jewish state. He has endorsed the plan as a way to end sanctions against the Hamas-led Palestinian government and pave the way to reopening peace talks with Israel...

Thoughts anyone? I'm not very well-versed on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, but given reports on the news, I don't think this will go all that far to stop the violence going on. Then again, it could be a step towards peace...or not. Thoughts?More...

This article about the Israeli soldier's kidnapping also makes refrence to the Palestinian Authority's deal that would implicitly recognize the existence of Israel

I don't know why the present thread was not closed but this one was.

anway, Hamas has denied all media speculations that it has recognised Israel.

news.bbc.co.uk...

BBC tends to be anti-Israel.

It is biased more towards the Palestinian point of view.

This is why they pick up anything that is pro-Palestine.

That's odd. All the American news outlets are running the Hamas-Fatah story as headline news on their web sites, and they all say that both parties are recognizing Israel as soveriegn

ABC News
CBS News
CNN News
MSNBC News

Even FOX News and Voice of America propaganda broadcasts say that Hamas and Fatah have come to an agreement regarding the recognition of Israel. Almost all these stories are the same word for word, which most likely means they're all the same story from the same POV and likely "pro Israel" as you say. Thus far, though, the BBC article only makes refrence to two Palestinian Hamas who do not approve of the wording in the document.

Peace in our time! Now I guess that we can get back on the "road to peace", the millions can start flowing again from Europe and the U.S. to Palipol Swiss bank accounts and rogue arms dealers supplying an increasingly suicidal mass of jihadis bent on thier own distruction.

Yes. Aid to Hamas government will most certainly go to make more bombs.

But blocking the aid will only make militants turn to the Arab nations who will give them millions. this will go to make more weapons.

One Hamas minister literally walked across the border from Egypt carrying millions in his suitcase !
