USA vs IRAN (World Cup)

I was thinking the other day....what may or might have happened if the USA had met Iran in the world cup? do you think they would have had to draught in extra security etc? Would there have been extra "scuffles" on the pitch...people venting some frustration? Would there have to be extra crowd control measures introduced?

Personally i don't think there would have been scuffles on the pitch. The guys are there to play football and they would have just concentrated on the game. Theres often rivalry between the fans or even the countries themselves, but it rarely spills out onto the pitch between the players.

Possibly there would have been a bit of trouble outside the stadium, then again i can't say i've ever heard of US or Iranian hooliganism. I'm not sure the security would have been any tighter than it already is though, i watched a news item the other day on the security for the US and Ghana teams the difference was comical.
The US team had about a dozen vehicles escorting them to and from the training grounds, the training pitch was checked for devices 3 times prior to just a training session, and there was a whole world of added security proccesses to go through before you got anywhere near them.

The guys from the Ghana team just rode thier bicycles to the match!

In football there are always going to be a few idiots that spoil it for everyone else, but the majority of rival fans and players actually get on really well.
