According to the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chávez Venezuela will be purshasing 30 SU-30 fighters from Russia. According to him they are to deterr the inminent American invasion to Venezuela...

You have got to give it to Chavez, he’s found himself a nitch, this US fear mongering routine against must be good for him because he does it once every few months. I wonder if this purchase has more to do the "inminent American invasion to Venezuela" or the fact that the US recently banned arms sales to Venezuela, cutting off any chance of servicing existing F-16 fighter jets?

This is all about the refusal by the US gov to allow the sale of spares for the Venezuelan F16s.

Mind you who knows what to believe, a short while ago the news was full of stories about how they had signed a deal for some Mig 29s (which never seemed to materialise despite the yards of column inches devoted to how this supposedly........ 'proved' Chavez's expansionist plans etc etc blah blah blah.....he's Hitler/Stalin/Mao..."
