"With the US economy on the verge of recovery, but millions of Americans still unemployed, President George Bush has reason to worry that mounting costs and casualties in Iraq could stand in the way of his re-election next year, political experts in Washington say."

Oh darn, he's starting to second guess himself... and his people had to think about this?

Screw bush and his illegal administration. The US economy is on the verge of collapse and Iraq isn't making the money the US hoped it would. This is why the US suddenly wants everybody else to plow billions of dollars into Iraq. What has happened to all the billions pledged to Afghanistan? That's been swept under the rug. Soon, the US will find it can't afford to be in Iraq and will insist that the UN takes over.

Screw blair too, we need a leader that's interested in more than his global image. We have problems on our own doorstep.

God I sure hope Bush does not get reelected. But then again... who else is running against him? The democrats? They're pathetic. And the democrats are the best chance we have of kicking bush out.

I doubt that he'll get reelected.

Did anyone notice that there was a HUGE difference in the economy between the Clinton administration and Bush's? When Bill was in charge, he had quite an impressive surplus of funds. When Bush gets elected, there's this huge downwards spike and not the treasury's in a deficit. I remember seeing a graph of it on rense.com, it was really quite impressive!

Yes, the war is the main reason for the huge budget gap.

We wouldn't even have had to go to war if Clinton hadn't just turned his back on the whole Iraq issue. Now Bush is paying for it just like any other president in charge during a war. People don't like war and that automatically screws a Presidents career. Just when things were starting to get under control in Iraq guess what happened Clinton got elected and threw all of what happened in the gulf war out the window and now Bush Jr has to come in and take care of unfinished bussiness. The same thing is going to happen again if we get another democrat in office before the job is finished. I can't believe all you people. You voted for Bush to be your president so why don't you stand behind him. WAR cost money and if clinton would have keep our troops over there the economy would have been the same as it is now just 10 years ago. Oh and who was the pathetic moron who cut our military by almost 10 percent while he was in office and gave very little pay raises to our military. I wonder where all that extra money came from. So don't tell me Clinton was a good president because I don't want to hear it. He put us in a hole and none of you can see that. Open your eyes for christ sakes.

Down with the liberals! My job is secure and I'm paid well under Bush. Democrats tend to take away my money via cut backs, and this is just one reason why I don't want those people in the WH.

WOW
He just NOW realizes this. If he was to be re-elected it would be because the government could not find another perfect simple minded pond to fit into their perfect little plot

Do you think Dan Quale invented the Internet too?? I can't criticize you too badly because I used to think the same thing, but it just isn't the case. There is always an economic lag between presidents. Usually the current president inherrits the previous president's nation, and the changes that came as a result of the previous president. Bush is that person. Now before you jump on me for being a Bush lover (don't go there . . . please) I consider myself to generally be more republican than Dem, and I don't support him any longer. I have become just as angry as others, about nearly everything Bush has done recently, but I think to blame him for the economic climate that is today is irresponsible, sorry. If you think about it for a moment you will know it is true too. There were events set in motion (dotcom bubble of the late nineties for instance) that really had nothing to do with Bush. Just my .02 Cents.

When is everyone going to get this straight?...Bush was *not* elected, he was *appointed* by the Supreme Court against Constituional Guidelines.

My job is secure and I'm paid well under Bush.

News flash! It doesn't matter which party gets the majority, The People still wind up losing. Someday, you'll be out of the military & you'll *have* to face the governemnt's screwed up policies with nowhere to hide from their incompetence.

You need to shrug off that "pro-government & pro-military" brainwashing to see the truth. I was *in* the military & I *saw* the truth for what it is...As a matter of fact, I was just as complacent about the truth until I was in the military...That's what it took to wake me up to the *real* world.

The truth is this...We have a squatter in the White House who's stumble-mouthed butchery of the English language even when he lies & weak-willed resistance to those people *behind* the Oval Office give the *real* orders is turning our Nation into an Imperialistic oil-grabbing facist state that's going to be using concentration camps asw much as Hitler ever did. The Nation is bankrupted on a Credit-based economy that never had anything of value to back up it's circulation because the economy is "managed" by privately-owned international banks. How do you think Bush intends to *pay* for *your* wages...Especially when you consider that military wages have always been *under* poverty-level? What are you going to do about your health when you're retired when even severely-injured troops are being neglected for *months* without any kind of medical aid?

Another truth is that, whenever the government declares a "War on (some Absract Noun), the problem always gets worse, not better...This is because there's somebody in the Administration who actually *profits* from the continuation of that problem. The "War on (Whatever) just gives them a PR-screen to reap profits at everyone else's expense.

IMO (& the opinions of a growing majority of citizens), the situation is totally UNSAT.
