First of all this isnt another thread that states that al-Zarqawi didnt exist.
Now to my point.
Why would al-Qaeda make public the ID of there leaders other then for propgander purposes ?
Broadcasting videos of the leader of al-Qaeda is like painting a target on his back.
I dont doubt that al-Zarqawi was/are a part of the al-Qaeda leadership.
I think of it this way Goebbels was voice of the Nazi party but he wasnt the parties leader.
While the likes of the CIA go after the faces of al-Qaeda it seems quite likely that the real leaders are at work in the background.
Any thoughts ?

Just like the Pentagon was able to figure it'd benefit from having a mystique about zarqawi, Al-qaida in Iraq must figure that they can benefit from it too.

Heck, this al-Muhajir name is understood to be a pseudonym, maybe the guy doesn't even exist, and A-Q-I-I is making him up.

From what I have gathered, the database as we know it, does not have a unified "leader". The central or top most figure in what is thought of as a "chain of command", does not exist.

Each cell of the terrorists is composed of one or more extreamists, and operate independantly of other cells. Not to imply they that are disorganised, but conduct themselves with more of the guerilla combatant tactics.

A large cell for example, may train together, then when ready break apart into smaller more displaced cells and manuver with preplanned intentions.
