Any mothman sightings in Germany?

I've kept myself from writing about this for a few months now, partly because of how stupid i always thought it sounded. Until i joined ATS, i'd never heard about mothman or anything similar, but having read the stories, it just sounds very similar to something that happened to me in Germany a few years ago.

I was stationed in Sennelager, Germany and one night my girlfriend and i parked up on one of the forest tracks, it was quite deep into the woods and it was picth black when the car lights were turned off. We had'nt been there more than about 2 minutes when something happened that scared the life out of us! Something hit the side of my car on my side hard, but it had come from up in the trees so it was as though it had jumped or fallen down at a slight angle to hit my car door.
It was dark as i said, but the only way i can describe what hit the car was that it was a very dark figure about the size of a man (it made my car shake it hit it that hard) and i swear it had wings or a cloak effect coming from it's body. You know when Dracula does that thing with his cloak where he opens it up and slightly curls it round, well whatever this thing was, it was in that position when it hit my car.

I'm think i screamed louder than any girl lol, my girlfriend and i totaly freaked and i drove out of there as fast as i could. I never told anyone about that until tonight, i mean how would you describe something like that?

Anyway, i have'nt got a clue what it was, but the mothman stories kind of reminded me of this incident.

Ugh! That would freak me out too.

It could have been some freak or hippie tree sitting in the woods, of course.

But it could have been something more. I never really followed the whole Mothman story, so I can't really give much of an informed opinion here. The only things I know of have to do with John Keel, who is basically the biggest supporter of the Mothman prophecies.

I dunno what i would have done, im glad your ok but things could have gone very wrong if it had decided to attack you. I hope what you saw is what you think you saw i mean its amazing i you have and your lucky in that sense but unlucky it decided to divebomb the ground next to your car

I would freak, btw im watching the mothman prophecies, what a coincidence, the movie is pretty freaky, i would hate to run into it someday . But does any1 know any theories on it?.

Ive never heard of these storys (i live near Bielefeld) but ive got some relatives of my wife visiting tommorrow (they are from Paderborn) so ill quiz them about it and report back tommorrow evening.

Hello CX, Your story is very interesting but the majority of mothman sightings happen sometime before a tragic incident might happen. To my knowledge the first sighting of this creature was in Point Pleasant, West Virginia a few months just before the falling off the Silver Bridge on December 15, 1967 and 46 people died.

After using the search toolbar (extremely useful) it looks like one of them also popped up in south america. "Madman running across rooftops". Still the residents might have over exaggerated it. Somehow the mothman is linked to cattle mutilations,ect. Same thing as the UFO Mutilations/ El Chupacabra which have coincidences . So there has been another sighting in like Germany. I wonder if there were any other international incidents.

I have seen alot of pictures of the mothman appearing in many different places such as the world trade centres on september the 11th and the day JFK was shot. I believe the september 11th one to be a hoax. I will try find some interesting pictures to share.

Well as for getting out and having a go at this thing, as a serving member of the military police at the time of this event, i was'nt exactly lacking in "balls" so to speak, but i tell ya i've never been so scared in all my life lol! It was that big it shook my car when it hit it, and in the pitch black and when the thing looked like it had wings, there was no way i was playing the hero with it!

I doubt that the good old Mothman would have went on a holiday in Germany .. It sounds more probable that there are several Mothmen.

CX you say it was in the tree with it's cloak like a vampires....well that is what is presumed but have u ever thought that it was in an attacking position and was stalking ur car to think it was food...or it was stalking you and ur girlfriend and then went for the attack and then went for a hard landing....literally lol..but it is just a thought

Hey that sounds like a really cool experiance but why wold you autoatically assume mothman. The mothman is also known as the Jersey devil and is only reported in America. Your description of the cloak like movement could suggest vampires. You were after all in the region for vampires. Just throwing out a suggestion that's all

Freaky indeed, I searched this thru google,ask,etc and nothing came up about mothman sightings in germany, although on a side note, there were some weird pornos with a guy in a butterfly suit.......

im kind of merging subjects here but theres been sightinggs of mothman everywhere so there must be more than one its a new world order ruled by moths i bow to our new overlords and apoligise for the many moths i have killed over the years ( there the moth peoples minions)

I see Mothman has moved on from Point Pleasant, does anyone know where I can find a copy of the recent Mothman picture (I think a german tourist took in 2005 in Point Pleasant)?

I have to say, it looks real. I doubt the image had been doctored. It could just be a kit or parachute caught on the bridge.
