I've searched for threads pertaining to the original Silent Hill game, however I could not find one. I organized this thread to discuss Silent Hill Symbology. I remember when Ihad the original game back in 1999 and there were websites everywhere that posted up the symbolism in Silent Hill. Now I can't find one, especially after the Silent Hill flick came out.

As of now all I can remember is that Silent Hill had:

1.Many references to horror movies and writers.
2.The crucifixion style by chains.
3.Samael
4.And I believe there were some other demons too, used for names.

SO if anyone knows about the Silent Hill symbols, or can find some, I think this thread could be interesting [of course if there was one like this before, I would be more than happy to be redirected to that thread].

Alot of the symbols are cliche's of demonic worhip and the like.

I love their storyline though. They build on it every game. The cult aspect makes it creepy as hell.

Well most symbols are now cliched due to so many groups of people utilizing previously defined symbols for their own meanings. Silent Hill most likely is guily of this however, the first Silent Hill [the version I would like to expand on in this discussion] had many symbols dealing with the occult in a believable way. What I want to discuss is how such symbols, such as, Samael, the Chanelling Stone, telekinesis, etc. were used and what their actual meanings are.
