Suppose I better get a really WIDE cross section of people started...my friends would but according to the rules of the challenge that's not good enough (understandable huh?)

Hmm and the applicant must foot the bill for all transportation, lodging etc???? Now how many people out there with genuine ability are rich? It's the frauds and fakes that have the dough...

it would appear by the contract - that one doesn't simply have to prove an ability...there are more hoops to jump through and the "victim" is already predetermined to have to suffer an amazing amount of abuse.

I suppose he figures that a million dollars will make some do just that.

If you was to win the $1 million dollar challenge I doubt your life would be the same ever again afterwards.

Meaning, after he put you through abuse, held you up to a mass amount of ridicule etc etc... and then denied you the million, he could still KEEP all of your files, videos and data collected during the testing. So this guy could OWN you basically and your identity even if you didn't (as we all suspect nobody would regardless of their success rate) win the challenge by his standards.

So who's to say, he won't then sell that data, or use it in other ways to feather his own nest?

So saying you did really well on the testing, but not up to his standards enough to win... all that Proof of ability is HIS to do with as he chooses. Meaning any professional/academic who corroborates you is also fair game for abuse...

It's a twisted scenario, and the guy definitely is an arse hole.

A million is not even remotely a fair compensation for what a victim would ultimately loose.

Not true he would only own the Data collected on you. For instance if you were filmed using abilities Randi would retain the copyrights and ownership of those videos to do what he pleases.

The way I see it is if someone could win the million they could easily pass the tests he puts fourth and if not then so be it. But it's not like a million is a lot of money these days.

do not bother it is a con, to get to find people who think they are sensitives or what ever you call them. no one has ever won or ever will.

its a good way for people in what ever groups to find people that are what people would call paranormal. going for the challenge could be the worst thing you could do in your life.

Hear, hear! Most applicants don't even get past the admin procedures, never mind getting to show off their abilities.

IMO Randi sucks. Big time. But that's just me.

As I understand it he is the soul arbiter and judge.

Yes the details of any testing would be agreed by both parties but the criteria etc
would be his. If you were foolish enough to go ahead with it, it would be totally on his terms that you would be agreeing. Don't agree to his terms and you don't get crack at the prize. Its all good publicity for his foundation.

Some of the claimant stories are amusing. Did anyone read of the prophet yahwehs challenge? It never took place but the correspondence was amusing. Randis' representative said it was a go until yahweh said he needed armed guards.
Randi Foundation panic overload, armed people in a big crowd no-no.

Not sure Gellars up for it. Not after his spoon challenge flunked...some say by a negative coalition by Randi and other sceptics.
