Anyone else see this movie? I'm surprised at the lack of attention this movie seems to be receiving. It's one of the best soccer movies ever, if not one of the best sports movies ever made. I was never a big soccer fan until I saw this movie and now I'm following the world cup... so does anyone here like this movie as much as I do? Does anyone know if it's coming to DVD soon?

Ive been trying to get a copy of this film on ebay, but to no avail. It seems to be in high demand and I cant find anyone who carries it overhere. If you have any suggestions on where I can get a copy hassle free, let me know.

I feel exactly the same i saw this movie about 6 months ago, and have been raving about it ever since. BUt i have not heard of it in cinemas or on dvd (i downloaded it) i thought it was a great movie! I loved Elijahs woods character, coming to the U.K. as a weak little nerd, and becoming a tought soccer holigan.
And just the under meaning of the movie, friendship, courage, bravery.
Bubbles in the sky!

I agree with spymaster somewhat. Although I did enjoy the film, there have been better hooligan films made. And what the hell were the Zulus doing shoving a credit card in his mouth to give him a 'chelsea smile' for? Not the way I remember hearing it done.
Anyhow, Football Factory is about as good as GSH, goes more for the humour angle though, but the fighting is pretty good. You might want to look at 51st state as well, comedy drama that features a little hooliganism, a lot of Sam L Jackson and a host of Britains best actors. But, if you wanna see the daddy of all hooligan films, its still gotta be The Firm IMO

The firm is a great film - YETI YETI YETI! ha ha

But the real daddy of football violence film has got to be ID

Green Street Hooligans is an excellent film, but I don't feel that the bloke from Lord of the rings was the correct person to put into the film. He seems to small and weedy to be a hooligan! I'd laugh at him if he wanted a fight with me!

Personally I thought the bloke playing opposite him was less believable! that crap cokney accent just really got on my nerves

Did you see The Real Football Factories last night? Some exhooligan (I think a brummie), was ripping the piss out of the Ultras. Said they were a bunch of poofs or words to that effect. Said the same about the Germans too, only good things he had to say were about the Polish. Right headbangers according to him

nah ridcully
didnt see that, but IMHO there is gonna be some problems out in germany..

The poles are very well organised but too easily to spot (if you know what i mean)
the germans are on their home turf so they are always gonna be one step ahead of everyone else.

The english firms well without saying to much have had a long time to plan this and although many of the known hooligans av had their passports taken away for the period of the w/cup there many many unknown who have been able to slip in out of the uk on previous trips.(without doubt the most well organised)

The dutch again are very well organised and will cause probs

But all the trouble spots are not gonna be around the football and are already pre arranged due to the fact of the high profile polish warnings....

Unfortunatly i think this is a no-win situation for the authorities, it will kick -off!
The police in the UK have had 30 odd years in trying to fugure out the best way to deal with the trouble , and they cant stop it, so what chance do the authorities in germany have ?
IMHO it is only the dutch and UK police that seem to have agood knowledge of the ways these things are organised, the germans may have only begun (last 10yrs) to really get hold of this, i think they really dont know how organised this is? and although the other police forces are going to join in and become ''spotters'' what they dont realise is all the police spotters are known to the hooligans anyway...

I saw this question on in the first post. the DVD comes out (Canada and US) on June 13/2006. Enjoy!

Although there might be a football movie that's better, (I don't know, I haven't seen the Firm), you can't deny that GSH is a damn good movie. I can't wait until the DVD to finally be released, it's taking them long enough to do it. Only a little over a week until it's out.

Thanks. I saw that the movie has finally come out in the US and picked up a copy. What a great movie. The sing alongs and pub scenes are great, the fighting scenes were amazing IMO. Saw a cool think at vmix.com/greenstreethooligans as well. Elijah Wood was really good in this but the more unknown british actors were just incredible. The interviews on the DVD are pretty cool as well.

I had heard so much about the movie but was really bummed when it didn't come to theatres. I saw it after it came out on dvd but I was pretty pleased with what I saw. Green Street hooligans has moved into my general rotations of weekly movies.

Yeah the movie does kind of have a deepness to it. There is elijah's journey to going from wimp to being able to stand up for himself then the relationship between the brothers BTW has anyone seen the thing on vmix.com? Has something to do with Green Street.

That movie was friggen awesome! I loved it.

The ending sucked....but I guess it was better to end the way it did.

I finally was able to get a copy, at target of all places. This is after I went to all the specialty stores, none carried it and none would order it. But I enjoyed it thoroughly. Great film.
