It cannot have been difficult to work out that the Da Vinci code was nonsense, now you have to accept, or at least contemplate, that the Kingdom of Heaven complete with all it's heirarcy, angels and minions are also ficticious just as the old Roman and Greek gods were.

I started reading the book today and am about half way through. Yes indeed....is says "fiction" right on the cover that I'm looking at right now.

It's a really exciting book I must say and it hasn't shaken my faith one bit....why.....because I'm reading it with the understanding that it's a fictional thriller.....and I have a deep faith.

Blessings....

i thought it was and now i don't go to church anymore

i guess i was wrong...

are you sure it is fictional...

it has a pretty convincing "facts" page in it...

im just kidding...

we all know (or should know) that this novel is a work of fiction...

that "facts" page is not even real facts...

You also got to contemplate that the Kingdom of Heaven complete with all it's heirarcy, angels and minions are true. Unless of course you can prove otherwise.

I think it's fiction but some things brought up are interesting or historically possible.

The popular Cult of Mithra (or Mithras) was indeed an embarrassment to the early church. Its roots are probably in Syria and it is believed to be an offshoot of the Persian cult of Zoroaster. It seems to have been introduced into the Roman Empire around 67BC. Born in a stable to a virgin, birthday celebrated on 25 December, died and reborn, Passover celebrated around Easter, whose rites of worship involved the ingestion of food and drink that were symbolic of eating the flesh of Mithra, and all this 600 years before the birth of Christ. Also included were rites of baptism, the belief in immortality, resurrection, a judgement at the end between Heaven and Hell, and a saviour who died and was resurrected to act as a mediator between man and God.

Talk about stealing ideas from other people. Im not being offensive simply factual. Most peopel see CNN and other groups debunk the Da vince Code. That is only one part of the argument. The BBC is not afraid to dig out the facts and values the truth over offending people.

Actually Dan Brown says the opposite.

It's what a fictional book based on most but not all factional elements shows us about our faiths. I think the author intentionaly added elements such as the star engraving on the Rosslyn Chapel floor. If you went there today you won't find a star but the chapel is loaded with symbology. Also look at the history and discover that todays floor was added more recentley www.rosslyn.org. First I will say I can still maintain my Faith in Jesus and God despite whats in the book. This I say because a lot of relegious symbols predated Christ and were indocternated by religions. This is all addressed in the book and is fact though some religions will argue aganinst it. As the Bible states, build your faith upon the rock and Book like the DC will not bring you down. The book is a great book and opened my mind to a lot of things I suspected but never looked into. Most of what I got from the book affected the affects of people on religion and things that people have done since Christs death. Consider that most of the images of Christ show him as looking like a European and not Middle Eastern tells us that not all things are exact. This leaves the question, how much of Dan Browns information is Fact. Movies and books had reinforced my former belief that the Holy Grail was a cup but it may not be after all?

here is a thought. Dan Brown was not the first to write about these subjects. there were
many others over many centuries. What The Grail is at least according to the romances
of the 12th century. ( as i recall the first to appear was around 1100-1125)during the very time that both organizations associated with it were established. The grail according to the various descriptions in a cup, an experience,a woman, a rock, and
the blood of Jeshua. It also has "powers "similar to those of the Cauldron of Bran
and the Horn of Zeus.

As for the "Star in the Floor" at Roslin there are many ways it could have come to be,
and many reasons for its disappearance.

an example of this type would be the Magdalene altar at Notre Dame de Paris in London.
This altar has a large splayed M in the center of it , much the same as the one mentioned in "the last supper". HBHG talks about this altar and the mural behind it
by Jean Choctau. As of about a year ago the altar was removed , ostensably for
refurbishing. What ever the case the only evidence of its existance is the mention in HBHG, and of course the pictures that people like me have of it in front of the mural.

Yes the movie bites. Not one of Ron Howards better efforts. IMO this film came across as an Opie film than a Ron Howard Film.

THANKYOU!! (exasperated sigh!)

It's so frustrating that some people are self-conscious enough about their faith that they take a fictional book as a work of blasphemy (and I'm not trying to generalize all Christians... but there are just some out there that just make you want to :bnghd: )

...it's like it's Harry Potter all over again...

you believe it is fictional because you are religious and you were brough up the way that you dont want to be true......though the stroy itself if fiction no man named Robert Langdon ever excits but the topic and facts might be true...but like i said you were brought up to believe something else so when you see something like The DaVinci Code go agienst you believe in then people atomaticly asomes that it is fiction but me and i know a quite of bit of poeple believe that it is true and im with them all the way.
