Americans asleep at the wheel

I'm perhaps the only one I've spoken to lately that is appalled that the internet search engines have been hijacked. How can we ever get access to reliable information if we can't even trust an internet search engine.

I realize that there are "forces" at work in our country that want to control the flow of information because they just sdon't want to be exposed.

Clearly, Bush is taking a the fall for the "real" bad guys because 9/11 happened shortly after he got elected. He had no way to train terrorists to fly planes at Amnerican military bases. He had no time to plan the attack. It has to be someone in the defense end of government because the anthrax came from our military lab, the terrorists trained at our bases. Sounds like a coup to me. Anthrax seems like it was sent to keep it a silent coup. I remember right after 9/11 Alan Colmes alleged that on Hannity and Colmes.

Since 9/11 it seems like there is a manipulation to divide and conquer the American people and the President and Congress seem helpless to stop it.

The only guy that is universally loved and respected by both Americans and the Arabs is Congressman Murtha. Most Americans are opposed to the war in Iraq and he has become their hero. Murtha trashed our troops after Abu Ghraib and now with the civilian casualties. This has made him a hero to anti war majority in America and Arabs in the middle East.

Now "someone" in our government has strong armed the internet search engines. Google has filed a lawsuit and Yahoo has openly complained.
I get a little perturbed when someone tries to control the info that i have access to.

This is without a doubt the most important issue facing the american people today. It's like war has been declared on our right to information, and it leaves us susceptable to propaganda. It like the last piece in the jigsaw puzzle to control the minds of the people. You google, you get what they want you to see.

The people on this website should be up in arms because google is such a important source for quick info and now we can't rely on it. It's almost like war has been declared on the American people's minds.

There are other ways to get info other than the internet. I dont much like the fact that they are able to control it, but it really does not bother me either. The internet is an open field for criminals to play in. I dont freek out when I see a cop on the road, so why should I freak out to know they are on the international internet highway? There ARE other ways to find things out. So, I guess what I am saying is that you cant really say that they are taking away our right to information. I think as technology advanced there should be some added protection. I dont want them to get carried away, but I do want them to protect people too.

Making a new ID to create silly posts is about as subtle as a train wreck. A silly post with nothing but opinion and conjecture presented as fact is about as useful as a train wreck. And most important: Murtha and his comments are about as productive as a train wreck, as is this post…If you cant post it under your real ID, don’t post it.

Well, this Google lawsuit is all over the net, you don't really need to quote sources at this point.

I agree, it's like there's a war on over American's minds. Genuine nformation is becoming more rare all the time.
Some questions I have:

Who is the govt to decide what types of information I should see?

Who is the govt to put any kind of limit on free speech? That's against the Constitution.

And WHY are they limiting our flow of information?

I agree, I get frustrated more often than not these days with both the internet and the TV as a source for anything worth even looking at or hearing about anymore, let alone learning anything from on current news and issues that isn't a lie.

And what does Bush had only just rcently been elected and didn't have time to train terrorists go to do with anything? Clearly, any 'inside the government' conspiracy began well before Bush. He's only one cog in a large, pre-existing machine.

I'm sorry but have you been in the woods for the past few years? Were you educated at Yale or Harvard...

Good post google dude but you will need a lot more than that to convince the naysayers here. Whether or not you are telling the truth some people will shoot you down before the information is given. If theres not a line connecting every single dot most people won't even be able to understand it in the first place....

Seriously though, if people can't see the direction our world is headed in (THE TOILET) then nothing anyone says will help you. Get your head out of your ass and do something about it guys, I'm already doing the best I can with what I got over here. But trying to convince people who don't listen to you in the first place won't help at all...

Nope. Right here in the real world. Lets see, what have we seen here in the real world lately.....planes crashing into buildings, war, people wanting to nuke us, world wide terrorism, children being kidnapped and sold into sex rings, wacked out pologimist group leaders who mary off 12 year old children to men who already have a number of wifes and force them to start having kids, kids shooting kids..in school, parents killing their kids, snipers picking random people off one by one, the list goes on and on. Yep I agree our world is going down the TOILET, but lets stop and think about what we can do about that, and who is taking it there. Should we totaly tie the hands of our law enforcers? Keep them from being able to find or protect anyone? um NO. I do not agree with having my phone calls listened to, and I do not want security cameras on every corner (a few in bad areas is ok, but not everywhere). I do however think there SHOULD be a "guard dog" for the internet.

Lets not forget there is a "guard dog" for book authors as well. An author can not create a fictional story and call it fact. Why not put the same restrictions on internet authors as well? Now if you can find proof that they are restricting proven facts, then I will consider ranting over this subject. Until then, I think the ranting is more paranoia than anything else.

I remember when i exposed the google censorship thing, and people thought i was crazy...

i would do a search, send someone the page link for that search, and they would get completely different results from pushing the same link...
if I posted the link, everyone got different results...

Several notable posters here, kept calmly trying to tell me that i was crazy in very nice ways...

Well, i will say...

the interenet search engines that give us unbiased results, are the ones we should support...
we as the internet, can literally make or BREAK any site that pisses us off...
YOU LISTENING MR GOOGLE?
what about you, are you going to YAHOO?

Lets make sure to tell these search engines that thier existence is due to our support, not the governments allowances...

a tyranical government can fine them, but we can take them off the board entirely...

as far as the info goes... to truly stop it, they would have had to get it before now...
there are so many other ways besides search engines to find stuff, it hasn't stopped the truth seekers.

Wouldn't contending that "Americans are asleep at the wheel" have to be prefaced by a belief that we are actually doing the driving? Anyone who is foolhardy enough to believe that our "democracy" is facilitating the voice and interests of the populace, U2U me...I have a bridge to sell you...
