~Joining the USAF in either january or february of 2004. Aiming towards being a loadmaster or an in-flight refueling apprentice. But I still gotta see what margin of jobs are still open in which I'll find out next week some time.

KACHING!! Finally! Someone else that calls it by the correct name!

However, I am an agent of Section 31 (star trek equivalent of Area 51). Therefore, I can disappear you, but not a fellow trekkie, that would be cruel.

Jeff,
It is pretty alright in the USAF, I've been in for 7 years and got to see a lot of interesting things, you'll have fun but, my advise to you is this, come in with a guaranteed job, don't join until they do so ok?

That goes without saying for EVERY branch of service. Don't let 'em jerk you around, cuz you'll be sorry if you do. Just remember, they NEED YOU MORE THAN YOU NEED THEM!

Each job, Loadmaster or Boomer, is great, as flying is what it's all about in the AF, and boomers double as the loadmaster, especially on the KC-10 which hauls quite a bit of cargo. You make more money, but the deployment rate can be killer. That's great if you are single, but takes it's toll on a marriage. Whatever you plan to do in the AF, get your degree. They pay 100% tuition now, so all you have to do is buy the book and show up for class. And yer gettin paid to do it! Can't beat that with a stick

Not even close...The KC-10 is a VERY capable cargo carrier, with up to 27 pallet positions available, or a combination of cargo pallets and palletized seats for passengers. All that, and it can still refuel every fixed wing aircraft in the DOD inventory. Get your info straight before you attempt to correct someone. Read my previous post...INSTRUCTOR Loadmaster. Taught load planning for three years as well...if I can teach an Army grunt to loadplans an aircraft, I can correct your erroneous statement as well. No offense intended, just don't like poor information to be spread by the uneducated.
