This site explains them very easily. They are camera artifacts.

Rods are not unknown objects, but they are camera artifacts created by the shape of the camera lense. There is no specific object that can be a rod or become a rod. ANYTHING can become a rod.

Defintitely camera artifacts. I don't buy them being extraterrestrial and I don't buy them being X-creatures. It's like saying you saw a miracle because you saw the face of Jesus in a mayo lid.

I think that they are flying insects that produce the illusion under the night flash as being a flying rod.

I've read this and many believe this to be truth as well.

Thats it, they are bugs. Since most bugs travel fast enough to blur in the the slower frame rate of the video recorder, the image of the bug looks like a small rod floating around.

There's good video evidence out there that shows these strange objects.
They are rod shaped, hence the name.
J-rods.
They are a real phenomenon but have been debunked as merely camera lense abnormalities or anomalies to bugs. Make up your own mind after viewing them.

If I come across any good links with video or photos, I'll post some.
