Well if you enjoy childish games and and dont mind your console being named after excrement then sure buy a wii.

If you're really into retro games a pc built in the last 10 years will happily play them for you all you need are the roms and the emulator, google it.

And so what if the graphics card has been cut three times, the consoles still going to have far better graphics than any of the competition.

As for the controller, what a joke, like i said earlier when i play a beat em up i dont want to have to wave my arms and legs around like the starwars kid, i want to sit in my easy chair and enjoy the game. IMO sonys got it right with their controller and the games like warhawk will benefit greatly from it and im sure that if you dont want to use the feature you wont have to, where as with the Nintendo you have no choice.

And apart from the revamped eye toy wheres the innovation and new technology? It's my understanding that its going to use the same media as the game cube where as the PS3 is going to use Blue Ray which is or at least should be the standard format of the future.

While your prancing around the living room playing Zelda and mario bros with the rest of the kindergartners, i'll be playing great games like MGS4, KillZone, Stanglehold, The Getaway and Vison GT with a nice beer and the company of adults.

I would carry on but i need a wii.

Laters.

LOL you must be so mature, it's mindblowing. Your willing to buy a console that will probebly cost in excess of £500, with games that will cost either £60 to £70? Fine, go ahead and waste your money on something that considers itself more then a games machine. For me, I'd rather choose something that doesn't think that it's God. The Wii will be a fun console, because it doesn't need great graphics and anyone can play. If you only measure a console's worth by their graphics, then you'll ignore the games.

Also emulators are crap. They don't capture the experience of playing it on a console, not to mention there illegal.

Im definately going for a Wii !!!!!!! (had to say it, soz!!)
Im buying a new PC soon as this one's getting tired and wrinkley, so I will be gaming on that, but the idea of a few mates, a couple of beers, should make the wii a legend. The neighbours will think your all doing some kind of weird wiccan magic with your wii-mote wands.

I dont measure a games console solely on its graphics, but you would be a fool to deny that they make the gaming experience more pleasurable. The reason I would choose the PS3 over the others is purely for the quality and variety of the titles available on said machine. The Game Cube didnt have a single game I considered worth buying the console for where as the ps2 had plenty. And while I'll admit i havnt really looked at many of the games for the Wii the PS3 is undoubtedly going to have hundreds over it's life span which i would happily buy the console for. Also as far as i'm aware, the Wii isn't going to have the option of online play which is a must have in todays gaming scene.

Did you not read it? It goes as follows.

So, its now confirmed that Nintendo are fully committed to entering the online fray - and like their new controller, it appears they’re going to be employing a unique approach.

If we can assume you can download retro games, then you can assume that there is gonna be some form of online play.

Something new no doubt.

I'm going with the PS3, they got some of what looks to be awesome games coming out. The one I'm really looking forward to is BIA: Hells Highway, it looks intense as hell. Not to mention Eight Days, and I cant wait to get my hands on the sports games for PS3. I've played XBOX 360 and I just dont like it really. Ive had a PS1 and 2 so Ill probably stick with the PS3 because I have been totally satisfied with the games for PS1 and 2. If it aint broke dont fix it.

Well yes it has net access, big deal, what doesnt these days? As for the price argument I dont see why anyone would moan about it, with all the tech in the machine its a bargain. Blue ray players on their own cost a bomb. And with the Wii only 2/3 times more powerful than its predecessor of course its going to be cheaper, its like saying a porche isnt worth the money because you can get a smart car for far less.

I suppose as a machine the PS3 is better however as a console and the titles available is purely up to preference.

Any way I'm off to the pub to watch the final.

Bman, the argument you're making is the same one made over and over every generation. just because the hardware is good doesn't mean the software will be. the gamecube and xbox are more powerful than the ps2, but the ps2 is the console with the greatest games. the psp's hardware is waaay more powerful that that of the ds, but the ds is kicking the psp's ass in sales, because of the quality of its games.
the same can be said about the n64 and the ps1: ps1 stole the show
i usualy don't pay attention to hardware specs. i'd rather judge a console by the games that it has. hardware specs can sound good comming from the mouths of their creators, but really, it's all just icing on the proverbial console cake, in my opinion.

Well i agree, the console with the better variety and quality of games is going to be the most successful and IMO that is, was and and will be the Playstations.

The N64 had Golden Eye which was the best game of that generation, hands down. The Xbox had knights of the old republic which i thought was brilliant. But because i've always had a sony and the excellent games exclusive to that brand, I have always considered them essentials. So forgive me if i'd rather play MGS4 than Zelda: blah or the next generation GT over Mario Kart but those are the games i'm accustomed to.

Over 170,000,000 people cant be wrong.

170,000,000 people can't be right either when it comes to something as opinionated as gameplay. Besides that's 170 mill shipped, not sold, consoles.
I bought one of them though

I want them all... but due to monetary concerns, I'll probably get a 360 when the price drops (or by the end of next school year, whichever comes first). After that, maybe a Wii. And a year later when it's price is down, the PS3.

The 360 will have the second half of Halo 2 (aka Halo 3)... which we shouldn't have to pay for if we bought Halo 2. And the simultaneous release of GTA4 which is great for me. Plus Square might be friends of the system since they did release FFXI (yeah... really ... really late). So for someone with too little time to play all the great PS3 titles (such as RPGs), the 360 is a solid choice as a starter in the next generation. Plus, I have a really nice (but already outdated =__=) Alienware Aurora m7700. So UT2007 is within reach... if I upgrade my nvidia 6800.

but Bman, that's my point. the ps2 sells more because the game are fun to play, not because it has the most fantastic hardware. i'd play Final Fantasy or GTA over Zelda any day. but that's because i find it more entertaining, not because i'm counting how many processors the ps2 has.

Well that was 2 years ago so i'm sure they've all been sold.

Lets face it though, to make the better game it helps if the platform you're working with is superior to the competitions. Which leads me to believe that as hard as develpors work to release that quality game for the Wii there will always be better on the Xbox2 and the PS3.

I'll be getting a Wii, and probaly never touching a PS3 until the price gets alot lower, and I have a TV that supports it. Right now the only thing that makes the PS3 enticing is the installation of Linux on the hdd with the compiler and everything you need for homebrew. But, I really like some of the titles coming out for the Wii, and at the rough estimated price of $200 for one, and saying a game costs $50, I could get a Wii, and 8 games, for the price of just the high-end PS3.

I just recently (within the last month) got an XBox, and just finished modding it. 100x better now! XBox Media Center is the best piece of software around for it.

first off anyone remember what Sony said just before PS2 launch in regards to the emotion chip? they said it was going to add "realistic" graphix etc. Needless to say Sony's E3 setup sucked this year and they stole Nintendo's controller just like they stole rumble tech from them.

PS3 will be expensive here like over 800$ after you pay tax and the downgraded system with the wired controller is totally not worth it. Also not to mention they have a hard on for HDTV which most people do not have. Anyone play King Kong on 360 with a normal TV? Well it don't look so good. Sony has lied and stolen from other companies to get ahead. Most people I talk to will probably get a Wii in their stockings as opposed to the foreman grill oops i mean noisy PS3, due to a few factors like price, availability, and gameplay. With Microsoft lowering the price of the 360 and Wii's launch estimated between 150-200$ Sony will have a hard time selling an expensive peice of equipment which is a few years ahead of it's time.

Spec wise and graphically PS3 is way ahead and I would like one but people are ready for something new.

People are starting to drift away from console gaming because it is getting old. In the 80's the game market crashed Sony and Microsoft are doing what Atari did. They have next gen graphics but not next gen gameplay and for that and other reasons I predict the Wii will out sell 360 and PS3 this year. Nintendo will once again revolutionize the market.

PS3 for keeping it real!

They have officialy stated that for shooters there will be mouse and keyboard support! Oh the sheer, unadulterated joy at hearing those few words...mouse and keyboard support..... oh the bliss of it!

(I'm a mad rabid FPS fan...More guns and guts the better!!!!!)
