THE top two floors of an RMIT University building in Melbourne have been closed because of health concerns after several staff members developed brain tumours.

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) today called on RMIT University to ensure the health and safety of its staff following reports that seven staff members working in building 108 in the city have been diagnosed with brain tumours over the past seven years.
NTEU secretary Matthew McGowan said the first incident was reported in 1999.

"This would appear to be much more than co-incidence, and RMIT has a responsibility to leave no stone unturned in seeking the cause," Mr McGowan said.

NTEU representatives met with university management today to express concern about the top two floors of the building and a possible link between the roof's mobile phone towers and staff members becoming ill....continues news.com.au

I will be very interested in the outcome of this inquiry. Seven seperate tumors in seven years seems to be somewhat disconcerting. The two floors house the business faculty.

Or will big business and the government just turn the enquiry into a 'whitewash' and say the cases are just a coincidence?
