I've given up on trying to tell people that they are living in ignorance of what is really happening in the world. I guess I can't blame them though as they seem happy enough.

Pitty those fools.

Some people are happy to live in the Matrix and don't need deeper explanations, it makes them uncomfortable.

Personally, I have a thirst for knowlege, but many are happy just existing, being mesmerised by the 50hz glow of TV.

Only going to say this:

It was said that:
"Ignorance is bliss"

Ignorance is in the eye of the beholder. What you may consider as the "truth", another may view that information as not being the "truth." What one may see as "right" another may see as "wrong".....see where this is going? The "truth" is subject to only those who think it is the "truth"...is the "truth" self-evident? Are you sure that what you believe and see as the "truth", really the "truth" as you know it, see it?
Who dictates and assures that what we call the "truth" is exactly that...the "truth"?

What is needed here and everywhere is tolerance and understanding. No one should have "claim(s)"s to having the ultimate "truth"...save One.....
Anything other than the "truth" is an interpretation, subject to a personal value system and judgement...equating to an opinion or decision, view or conclusion.

Peace.

It depends on the persons reaction to reverse psychology.

true, but it only works on open minded people....

How about 'define' "open-minded" for us....based on your interpretations, of coarse....I mean, is there a pre-set "law" or definition of what an "open-minded" person is or is defined is or is it a matter of subjective, personnal evaluation and thus, ultimately, your interpretation, observation, definition, opinion, and conclusion?

open minded is willing to see both sides on the story.

Thank you infinite....
So if this is to hold true, then if one looks at both sides of an issue....is the "truth" easily "Seen" or discerned? Is the "truth" self-evident? Is the "truth" easily obtained from 'both sides'? Or, again, are we making assumptions, conclusions, giving opinions, etc., based on our own interpretations, discernments, based on our own subjective conclusions, estimates, etc.?

Infinite,
I am sorry for using our discussion to make a point....something I had to learn the hard way, myself.
The "truth" is not always self-evident, nor can it always be found in information or facts, etc. The "truth" can be whatever 'we' see it to be, believe it to be, etc. This is all apart of critical thinking and how to discern information, etc. It is something we all do...we use our own subjective judgements, etc., to see facts, evidences, when we go through information, etc.

I was merely trying to say that "to assume" anyone is "wrong" in their conclusions, thus making them "ignorant in their own bliss", etc., was ill-founded and not fair.....

I agree with Nans though, to give up is the first step to admitting defeat and in searching for the elusive "truth".

Peace Infinite and all.

seekerof

The first place I tell people to look (if the have net) is ATS. I even tell them not to register but to just read and follow links. But if like some of you say 'they are not open minded' then no amount of evidance is going to change them.

I know this has been said before but...
There is more evidance to support that UFO's excist then there is to support that there is a God. Yet people are more willing to believe in a God.

Never mind when the shyte hits the fan I can go round saying 'I told you so!' just before they lock me up in the nut house!

Pointing people to ATS is not a good thing to do. ATS is pretty far out there. When I found ATS i first thougth to myself, "Whoa. This stuff is out there..." ATS is to much for the normal person.

Send them to tamer sites, esp. ones that are topic specific. For example, a good site about Giants would be excellent. Doesn't radically change a persons perspective (ie, HAARP won't kill us all and the Rex 84 isn't around the corner). You gotta ease someone into this kinda thing.
