Asteroid Discoveried in April May Hit Earth in 2008

An asteroid discovered on april 27 has a chance of hitting the earth in 2008. At 800 meters in diameter... it could cause massive damage:

2006 HZ51 with an impact chance of 1 in about 1.8 million.

No more worrisome than something we don't even see hitting us since there is only 1 days worth of data.

Update:

On day 2, this NEO dropped from the threat list. Most the time these are just from lack of data, not real threats.

2004MN4 (Apohpis) and 2004VD17 are the only serious confirmed threats right now.

wait .. are they saying its big after it burns in our atmostphere or in space or are they jus saying thats its huge and its gonna kill a bunch of us...?

It is big, about 0.7km diameter if i recall.

However, it runs no chance of hitting the earth based on new data.

If you mean the two that do have a relatively good chance, yeah, they are way too big to burn up in the atmosphere. At best the would explode in the atmosphere which would be even worse than a ground impact.

If this hits we are in a lot of truble.

That it was going to come close but miss us.

If thats the case the only thing we really need to worry about is will our gravity pull it closer when it gets near.
