In fact it sort of answers the question in another way. Of course you cannot win a war on 'Terror' it's impossible and to use a time-worn yet appropriate analogy, is like trying to put a string vest on an octopus.

Nevertheless, reading through other threads, there are plenty of people around that seem happy for the US and the UK to spend billions of taxpayers hard earned cash on trying (war on terror, not octopus in string vest)
