A federal judge agreed to issue subpoenas for Rice and three other government officials in a trial involving two former lobbyists with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Both lobbyists are accused of receiving and disclosing national defense information. Lawyers for the lobbyists seek to demonstrate that Rice, and the other three government officials, disclosed the sensitive information to their clients, and therefore authorized the lobbyists involvement in the disclosures.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice leaked national defense information to a pro-Israel lobbyist in the same manner that landed a lower-level Pentagon official a 12-year prison sentence, the lobbyist's lawyer said Friday.

Prosecutors disputed the claim.

The allegations against Rice came as a federal judge granted a defense request to issue subpoenas sought by the defense for Rice and three other government officials in the trial of Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman. The two are former lobbyists with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee who are charged with receiving and disclosing national defense information.

This is unbelievable! Now, Condi too!

The cabal of hypocrisy and malfeasance may really include everyone in this administration.

If true, what shame...

It looks like Rice will seek to to quash the subpoena.

U.S. District Court Judge T.S. Ellis III accepted the defense's claim that Rice's testimony might be relevant to the case, but added that the secretary can resist the subpoena and explain to the court in writing why she does not wish to testify. A U.S. State Department official told Haaretz a few days ago that Rice would oppose an attempt to subpoena her in the case and would try to persuade the court that conversations she held in which Rosen was also present bear no relavance to the case against him.

Source.

The three other government officials appear to be:

David Satterfield, deputy chief of the U.S. mission to Iraq; William J. Burns, U.S. ambassador to Russia; and retired Marine Gen. Anthony C. Zinni. All three had served as envoys to the Middle East.

"the secretary can resist the subpoena and explain to the court in writing why she does not wish to testify."

Is she going to plead "The Fifth"?

Or will Jr. ride to the rescue and say he declassified the info? Will he or won't he repay her undying devotion... er, loyalty?

This will be amusing to watch them twist and turn their way out of this one. Convenient, ain't it, that they don't have a press secretary to have to answer to this one.

As long as they keep spouting "terrorist" in every speech, no one will accuse them.

Watch them wiggle, see them jiggle,
THEY'RE JELLO PEOPLE...

so now the esteemed Condi leaked a little info...

Didn't Cheney reveal the entire energy policy to his friends, the energy lobbiests..
OH THATS RIGHT... THEY WROTE IT FOR HIM...

I guess we should feel fortunate that the Pro Israel Lobby isn't writting our foreign policy...
OR MAYBE THEY ARE!!!

Absolutely a violation of our nations security, and perhaps these things should be dicussed with a NATIONS LEADERS... but not the equivalent of a nations con men...

and how legal is it anyway, for a lobby group representing a foreign country to even operate the way they do... I thought foreign lobbys had severe restrictions...
