Looks like Daddy's friends got thei investment back after all...

Profits per gallon have not gone up. This is a documented fact. Turns out more oil is being used than ever before even though the price is high. You can thank the great American economy, India, and China.
If the oil companies took ZERO profit from a gallon of gas the the amount the price would lower is inconsequential. Turns out profits don't stem from the price per gallon but the gallons used.

Oh and don't forget, many people's 401k and municiple employee pensions have holding in oil companies. I doubt if they knew that they would complaining too much about the public company's profits.

Since when is it anybody's right to judge how much profit a company makes in a free society? It's typical leftwing sophmoric class envy. You do have a say if it makes you so mad. Stop buying oil products. Buy a bike or moped.

You're continually confusing profits coming from the pumps from the profits coming from the wells. Those that pump the Oil are grinning with glee for every dollar the price goes up. Does Exxon pump it's own oil? You betcha!

Prove it.

If it's leftwing envy, then Bush must be a Lefty!

Impossible in this day and age. Everything we use needs oil at some point in it's production history, wether its from the transportation side or the manufacturing side.

Oil is Black Gold in this era. Nuff said.

Oh, and I think that those American's and Canadian's who are complaining about the price of oil sound like a bunch of whiney brats! You don't see the Brits complaining about the price they pay, and they pay out of their ears and ass compared to us.

Ok so they make money when people buy the item. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

The profit per gallon is tiny compared to taxes.

What? What about no blood for oil? Oil is valuable commodity?! Of course it is! That's why the price is what it is. It's not a REQUIRED commodity. It makes your life easier. You choose whether to use it or not.

Brits complaining about the price they pay, and they pay out of their ears and ass compared to us.

Exactly. The major component of brit oil cost is TAX.

Yell at the oil companies all you want. If it wasn't for them you would not have your uniterrupted supply. The fact is this, don't like the price? change your lifetstyle to not use oil products. Welcome to basic supply and demand economics.

Not so impossible, i walk almost everywhere i need to go, eat as much local organic food as i can find, and just don't engage in rampant consumerism. I try to buy stuff that has minimal packaging when i actually do need an item. Yes, I still use electricity and cook with gas, but overall I've been able to reduce my consumption rate of petroleum. I take my own bags into the store instead of plactic whenever possible. I also quit my job selling aircraft fuel. I used to deal with about 2k to 20k gallons of Jet-A per day depending on ops. Yeah, somebody else is doing it now, but it's not me, and they're not selling like i was, I used to be on the phone cutting deals with the corporate Gulfstream/Challenger crowd as well as other sectors of the aviation industry, offering discounts if they land empty and top off at the best price in the region.

But think of this, buy a bike and YOU reduce YOUR consumption. Take as many steps as you can to reduce YOUR excess use. The key is YOU have to do it, whoever you are, because you're the end user creating demnd in the first place. I can say i'm not the one creating unreasonable demand, can you say the same?

If a lot of people reduce consumtion even just a little, it'll cause a sizeable dent in the king's riches.

Two questions -

1. If Exxon is not making record profits why is the media reporting that it is making record profits?

2. Lee Raymond just received a $400 million dollar severance package. That is half a billion dollars. While shareholders determine things of this nature, the profit must exist for the package to be granted. How do the naysayers in this thread explain Raymond's excessive retirement package, excluding stock interests?

They can't.

Seems to me like they enjoy being raped by the oil companies. Luckily for them, more rape is on the way for the American people.
