Ibrahim al Jaafari the interim Prime Minister of Iraq announced that he would turn down his nomination for the position of PM. His decision has come after he was pressured my Suni, Kurdish and even Bushes administration to turn down his nomination.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Interim Prime Minister Ibrahim al Jaafari announced Thursday that he was returning his nomination to the United Iraqi Alliance, a Shiite coalition, so that it could reconsider whether to keep him or nominate a new candidate for prime minister.

Al Jaafari's move could help end the delay over the formation of an Iraqi government. The Bush administration had pressured him to give up his nomination as prime minister. Al Jaafari, a Shiite, also faced strong opposition from Kurdish and Sunni parties, who blamed him for weak leadership and for failing to quell religious and ethnic violence.

Iraq has been without a government for more than four months since its national elections. Violence has intensified, and hopes that U.S. forces could start to withdraw have faded.

Well this was going to happen sooner or later. I would have thought the Bush administration would have had exactly who they wanted in power. Now it looks as if they've changed their mind. Can't blame them really. If this does solve or help to solve the crisis over there then fair enough. But it looks to me as if the "terrorists" have won this round.

Wait a second. Isn't this the guy that won the nomination during the Iraqi "elections" ? Why is he not able to keep his democratically elected post? Hmm, seeing that the supreme court picked our president in 2000, looks like we just might be spreading democracy after all...American style that is.
