In the movie "Time Machine" where an inventor from the early 1900s (or so) invents a time machine and one of the things he does is go to 2015.

At that point in time, they "screwed up moon demolishioning", and a large chunk (about 1/4) of the moon got broken off, with a crack running across it literally, and Earth got blasted by meteors, and it led to the destruction of the planet as we know it.

Now, knowing that the moon is hollow, that is there's nothing inside to hold it together, it's a very very good thing they never went ahead with this!

Well i never saw that movie (i'll download it
) but remember, it's just a movie.
Although i'm not saying its NOT true, It could become reality ofcourse.
Alot of movies have become reality i've noticed
But anyways, If so, You really think that they're so dumb? testing nukes on a hollow planet? I don't think thats so smart..
And something else, I never knew the moon was hollow, Is it reeally true? and how did they know it?
I know that sounded dumb, but i really never knew..

I wasn't pointing out the movie for the purpose of backing up my statement, but rather as a window into what MIGHT have happened if they went ahead with it, because if you watched the movie, that was damn scary, how a giant crack went across the moon, and it was breaking up, and all these meteors were hitting Earth.

Anyway, yes the moon is hollow, I can't remember how they found this out, but I don't think they've known it for long, and I don't think they knew it at the time these plans to nuke it were drawn up, otherwise they wouldn't even be considered, by my opinion.

Am I the only one who finds the level of scientific illiteracy in this thread to be totally depressing?

"Affect the orbit?" A puny 100 megaton nuke? A moderate asteroid impact has more energy than that.

"fire can't live on the moon" A nuclear reaction has nothing to do with fire or oxygen.

Sheesh I'm going to bed now.

Yes yes, i know. But now i know the moon is hollow ( this sounds a little dumb) i am pretty convident that the moon could crack up ! And it is a scary thought. But depends on it.. how thick is the surface of the moon is. You know how hollow the moon is?
But IF the moon actually cracks up, by a nuke or something, i'm pretty convident that the gravity of the earth will pull one half of the crack to itself, so that means the moon will split up.
And so..
Holy smokes.. the weirdest idea just came up on me...
You probably know there is a big secret underground city under the sphinx.
So.. now the moon is hollow.. You think there is a race/civilisation in the moon? Does sound logic actually.. There has to be something in there.
o.o Weird..

Haha! Funny what you said. But, ofcourse not!

I think, as i said before, Some chunks-o-moon will get pulled by the gravity of the earth and probably cause a big meteor shower..
Scary thought though..
