GTA 4: Your predictions

Since the next console war is about to start when PS3 finally ships, this brings up the question of just what form the next system selling game called Grand Theft Auto will take. What are your predictions? Some have said that the next game will take place in Europe, possibly spanning several countries. Others maintain that Rockstar will be turning back the clock and do a Chicago GTA set in a Capone era. I really hope they keep it modern but who knows eh?

My own personal prediction is thus: The PC version will lag behind the PS3 version by at least a year.

Okay so maybe it's not really a prediction but a certainty so here is something a little more iffy.

I predict that the next GTA will be banned in Austrailia.

Oops, that's another certainty again. Sorry about that.

Okay seriously now, I predict that the next GTA will take place in Western Europe in the modern era and will span three different countries each the size of San Andreas with 2-3 major cities each. The countries will be: Briton, France, and Germany. You know you want to re-inact some chase scenes in France or go racing on the Autobaugn(sp?).

Whatever they choose I'm sure it will stir up controversy and be very entertaining at the same time.

I did hear (possibly here at BTS) that Rockstar had had some major problems with another game and it had put back the new GTA by about two years. The upshot of that being that to keep people happy they were going to port Liberty City Stories from the PSP. Which isn't a bad thing, I've heard its a great game.

I like the idea of the next game being set in Europe though. But maybe set in Britain (I live here so I'm bound to say that!), Italy and Russia, as they've all got a reputation for their crime gangs and it would give more varied terrain to the maps

I don't like the idea of Europe. It would be stupid because:

First - You wouldn't be able to read any of the buildings or signs due to foreign languages

Second - I don't like foreign music.

Third - It just wouldn't be right, not set in America.

And if the first two aren't put in the game (foreign stuff) then it would be nothing like a foreign country and would be stupid to even put it there.


I think they should make a remake of all the GTA III's into one game with better graphics, AI, and gameplay. So then the map would contain the San Andreas are, Vice City Area, and the NYC Area. And maybe they can add a foreign place too.

Well if its going to be on the PS3 why not make it have many different locations you go to?

You do know that GTA was originally concieved by a scottish company right? They've also made two GTA's that were not set in America. Gotta take the series out of America for it to remain fresh IMO.

As for the signage thing who cares, just spell the signs in a funny phonetic accented kinda way to make it funny. Like in France they could have something like Le Police Station to denote a cop shop(except in a way that's actually funny ). They could do tons of stuff that would shock, amaze, offend and entertain.

question though how many ppl actually play without the codes?

I play through once without and then just go buck wild the second time through, not caring how many times I cheat. I'm a purist that way

yar but if the game was designed to say i dunno

let you join a server of some 500 other lunatics destorying the city, or make it so the maps are so disgustingly huge you could have thousands

I suppose then it'd just turn into a crazy shooter, go into first person mode and rain down the headshots

my lil bro is cheat code junky I'd go to my parents house and play with him and he'd enter codes so fast guess thats why i was 2nd controller on San Andres :p so many time i was like damn the car is going to splode i'm bailing and he fixed it...

You too eh? All the music in that game brings up so many emotions of nostalgia in me it ain't funny. Can't beat blazing down the freeway listenen to Billy Idol, Ozzy, and tha NWA.

well i kinda replaced all the music files on LCS :p

Only times I used codes was for having fun and not wanting to run out of ammo on various boredom-induced rampages. That tangent aside mutliplayer is a must, and like Lysergic it makes me twitch just thinking about WoWcrack numbers in a GTA world As for the suggestions about size of the game that sounds about right given the upage in power of the PS3, though maybe we will all be proven wrong and they will make it like 10x larger. Given the ammount of improvments Rockstar made between GTA:III and San Andreas I think they will listen to the community again and hopefully wow us with new stuff and fixes to old problems.

BTW I'm not sure if you guys know this or not, but apparently LCS will be getting a sequel soon called....[drumroll]....Vice City Stories. Wat a concept. I assume that after that they will make a San Andreas Stories as well. I really hope they come to PC though as I refuse to purchase a console handheld or otherwise.

I was refering to all the GTA's from GTA 3 till LCS. But I think it would be difficult to make it in a foreign place and pull it off good. But I would REALLY like to see a Tokyo island. Or how about Australia...that way you can ride animals and do drive-bys out of a jeep going through the safari.

But does anyone think that making it any bigger than San Andreas will make it too difficult to get around? It is kind of annoying on some missions, when you fail after driving from your safehouse in San Fierro to Los Santos, then fail and have to do all that driving over again. Not that I mind driving listening ot my music but when I do it a few times it gets annoying.

I didn't have much trouble with San Andreas, infact I thought that was the easiest and least frustrating game of the GTA 3 trilogy infact.

I do see your point though I disagree. Knowing rockstar should they do it in a foreign country, it will probably be banned in those countries that are portrayed(or at the very least demonised in the media making Rockstart even more money . How about Italy? Sicily to be exact.

Oh yeah, one other rumor pretty much says that the GTA4 will be in Carcer City(Newark/New Jersey)

I remember GTA London on the PS one Back in the top view down days it was alot of fun but we've already had london in a game of that sort twice in the getaway and the getaway blackmonday for PS two , And I loved thoose games I say stick with some fictional city like Carcer city And stick with the modern times .

I cant belive no one has spotted this, this one will be the 6th GTA and i will find out some info as a freind works in the sony testing center as a games tester he will know.

GTA4 hmm thats a hard one

4 times the size of GTA:SA, repetitive, lots of calling people bitches and hoes, a storyline revolving around something really fun like he dissed your mother so you gotta kill him but he is the boss of some random crime synicate but you gotta kill every other as well just because.

You know the usual.

I hope that the game will be in asia (Tokyo)and that it will be about an American that has to flee home due to a dispute with a Mafia boss and has to earn respect in Tokyo. Then towords the end the crime boss comes with his men to take over the city and a huge gang war breaks where its the east vs west.
