I just got the new Game Informer in the mail today.

The cover story is for a game called Red Steel by UbiSoft Paris for the Nintendo Revolution.

They play it, talk about it and show off an impressive photo spread. Go to this link to see some magazine scans:

Seems really good. You aim by moving your hand around and pointing at the screen. If you hold the controller with your hand sideways, the hand holding the gun in the game will hold it sideways gangsta style. Pull your hand back to reload, and move your hand forward to move stuff out of your way.

I'm really starting to believe that this is the first next gen console on my to buy list.

This defintely looks promising, but I must wonder how they are going to fix up the old school games for it. Any information on that yet?

Well, when I saw a promo for the system (way back when) they had a girl using the controller the same way everyone else in the video had been, but they were playing sound effects from the original Mario Bros.

Jumping is going to be easy.....everything else....that's going to be difficult, especially the GameCube level of games.

thirddensity, thanks for the link. Hadn't seen it.

I've had pretty-much all the consoles/handhelds over the last twenty odd years, and this coming generation I am only intending to get one -- The Revolution (hope they keep that name).

Reason:
The DS is the only games machine my mother & father have ever actually played with. Electroplakton for my mum and Sega Casino for my dad. They have seen me and my sister playing games over the years, but never 'got' the push stick right moves so-and-so on screen right. The DS is different and creates a more intuitive experience. This is through utilising a simple touch screen. The Revolution should be even more intuitive. Assuming Nintendo do deliver on their intentions for the console, expect a similar situation to DS outselling the more powerful PSP. proof

Check out this trailer for the Revolution: here

BTW I am not a fanboy, just the DS has opened my eyes to how games could be, while my PSP sits on a shelf. I think that sums up my expectations of the next generation consoles too.
