It seems to me that there are lot's of folks on this website who express concern about government monitoring this site and them and so on.

Last time I checked, I never learned that any government or person has jurisdiction on the www. The www belongs to mankind. I think it is a pity that the people have come to fear and mistrust their government. Not that is isn't well founded fear and mistrust. It's justified because of things like project northwoods, the Franklin Cover-Up, and so much more.

The day the people of the world allow a man or a government to control the peoples www. WELL, we'll be in big trouble.

from what I understand with the current wire-tapping scandal, it sounds to me that the govt. checks phone calls, emails, and even www sites. Since google is pretty buddy/buddy with the U.S. Govt. I would not be surprised in the least to find that google is helping to assist the govt. with surveillance and monitoring.

Unfortunately, the 'www' belongs, hardware wise, to the universities, telecoms, and corporations that subsidize the equipment like servers, routers, and fiber networks. We are simply allowed to use it because it generates revenue for other large businesses and corporations. "They" could block "us" from the "Internet" in an amazingly short time.

Unless you are involved in HIGHLY illegal activities that has a pronounced effect on national security, some sicko child porn ring, or the deaths of other people then I really dont think anyone needs to worry about the content of their emails or surfing habits being monitored by Uncle Sam.

If you were to learn that the government raided some sick effers home who was targeting your 12 year old daughter online for sale as a sex slave in the Middle East somewhere after secretly monitoring his email and WWW activity, I will be willing to bet you will rethink your position on this issue.

I have been spreading the warning,

but be aware that a google search for "Charlie Sheen speaks out on 9-11 Alex Jones" will result in a extensive list of every boneheaded move Sheen has ever done/said but not one word about his stance on 9-11

EXCEPT one little blog site (warning* dont open it!) that seems to contain a virus or somesuch (i stopped the transmission manually)

Yahoo had no such problem with pulling up the info...

Sorry for the educational interupt, back to programming...

update: Google admitted and got caught red handed in censorship effort...

Google got caught being government stooges:

these people that say " well, if you aren't doing anything immoral or illegal, you shouldn't care if the G men monitor all your communications. WTF!!!

I don't care if I"m up for sainthood, I don't want anybody else playing God but GOd.

As far as google goes, if you have family, they can make you an offer you can't refuse.

Here is my reply to that tired old response...

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

-Pastor Martin Niemöller

I am sure we all heard it before, but now is the time to truely analyze its meaning and place in our present day and age. I also am reminded of the old saying that "Indifference is the best friend of evil."

Well, sorry to disappoint you, I got news for you, pal.

The internet is controled by the government, and you have to respect their authoritah! If a lowly dictator was to decide to dissociate his country from ICANN, he would only achieve in shooting himself in the foot and quite simply isolate his country from the rest of the worldwide network.

What is ICANN?

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is an internationally organized, non-profit corporation that has responsibility for Internet Protocol (IP) address space allocation, protocol identifier assignment, generic (gTLD) and country code (ccTLD) Top-Level Domain name system management, and root server system management functions. These services were originally performed under U.S. Government contract by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) and other entities. ICANN now performs the IANA function.

As a private-public partnership, ICANN is dedicated to preserving the operational stability of the Internet; to promoting competition; to achieving broad representation of global Internet communities; and to developing policy appropriate to its mission through bottom-up, consensus-based processes.

How does ICANN work?

Within ICANN's structure, governments and international treaty organizations work in partnership with businesses, organizations, and skilled individuals involved in building and sustaining the global Internet.

ICANN is governed by an internationally diverse Board of Directors overseeing the policy development process.

Over eighty governments closely advise the Board of Directors via the Governmental Advisory Committee.

Wow, you guys are way off base and missing the picture completely.

1) Google censors for china (from chinese ips and hostnames). this is proven, intrestingly enough, you can search google to get the evidence.

2) Google censors some things off their american site regarding 9/11 and other misc things. I did do a search before and only received 2 results for "charlie sheen" "9/11". Funny enough, they were both hit pieces. Since alex jones has made many comments on his show about this. They seem to have corrected it.

3) AT&T, Sprint, and others have outbound pipes (the peer to peer links between telecoms). What the NSA has done is to "hijack" these outgoing links at specific locations throughout the internet and setup their own equipment to sniff packets. Things in packets include email, web traffic, your passwords, bank account information (if you do online banking), etc, etc, etc. This also includes telephone calls. Cellphone, voip, or otherwise.

I think it's no coincidence that over the past few years there have been over 2000 pro islamic terrorism web sites that have popped up all over the world. You could call it coincidence. But I don't believe in that. It is however a perfect excuse.

news.com.com...

4) ICANN has nothing to do with the internet. All they do is delegate authority over IP addresses and domain names. Yes, they are government. Are they watching us? Unlikely.

All i need to create my own internet is some cable and some linux routers. You can do your own IP and DNS delegation and create your own internet. Does this mean you can sniff users? No, you don't know what the users are sending.... Unless you control the routers.

5)

even if the goverment was monituring me on the www it wouldnt bother me ,
i dont have anything to hide..

That isn't the point. I thought we lived in america. Where we had certain rights, such as life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I thought we had the bill of rights and the constitution.

I guess I was wrong. Anything to keep us "safe" right?

edit:

even wired news reported on the chinese censorship.
