Official: PS3 in November...but will require a HDD... sold separately???

TOKYO--Today at the 2006 PlayStation Business Briefing in Tokyo, Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutagari made it official--the PlayStation 3 has been delayed. The news confirmed widely circulated Japanese newspaper reports, which said that the delay was due to copyright-protection problems with the next-generation console's Blu-ray drive. For his part, Kutaragi would say only that the delay was due to "Blu-ray spec finalization."

now it's november huh???

and now it could costs up to $600 US dollars???

[UPDATE] The SCE president also told the crowd that the PS3 would use a 60GB 2.5-inch hard disc drive (HDD). A slide show during the presentation said the HDD would be loaded with the Linux operating system instead of Microsoft's Windows OS. The show also said it could be used as a "home server," could be directly connected to the Internet, and would be fully "upgradable."

also, the PS3 will need a 60GB Linux HDD in order to play games...

and, to top it all off, it may not come with it!?!?!?

how could they sell something that is needed to play the games separately???

enough is enough...

it better be worth it!!!

Sounds insane. I don't care how good this system is... I'm not about to shell out $600 for a video game system. I'd rather get another computer for that money- one that can do a lot more than a PS3 I'm sure!

remember when the network adapter came out for the PS2 with a Hard drive plug on the inside and Sony said the hard drive for the PS2 was to come out a year later.....and here it is almost 3 years later but no hard drive for the PS2 !!!

i will not buy a PS3 ever for them doing this to us users.

They've tried to rush the PS3 because Microsoft have been trying to monopolize the market with releasing 360, 2 years early, and now Sony are gubbed. Anyone can see it's just a futuristic breadbin.

They better release it around xmas time or they are going to have a pathetic openning sales month with that price. Now I love the Play Stations, but at $500/$600...not a chance. Has anyone heard what the games are going to cost. I'm afraid to ask.

a quick google search allowed me to find this, that says about $70-80...

i don't know how reliable that it though...

the games are using blue ray disks...

that sounds expensive...

well personally, i am really into the playstation2 and i want a playstation 3 sooooo bad, but i just dont have 600 dollars to spend, i need a job and some money, but when i get enough money for it, the ps3 shall be mine!

Wait a couple years then buy it. I can get a GC for 50, a PS2 for 100, and an Xbox for 110. When they first came out? 200, each. The GC has devalued by 75%!
