Is Smoking a Human Resonse to Irradiation by Scanning Technology?

In theory, the USA won the cold war by being better at irradiating the Russian government, military, and citizens. 63% of Russian males smoke and 30% of Russian males die from this disease. These percentages are enormously higher than world statistics.

Myself, a great supporter of the USA, an honor graduate student at the University of Chicago, became sick at the end of 1994 and have smoked ever since. Never found the chance to get my graduate degree.

Partly related, does the USA have any freedom at all? If it says it does, it may be lying more than any nation in history.

The USA use to be a great and free nation.

Can you please explain a bit more? You became sick, and then began smoking?? And, the cold war?

this is a bit confusing but i may under what greattech is trying to say about the smoking thing. i believe its that we somehow got the russians to smoke, thereby killing off a good number of them that way, and they did the same thing. we won the cold war because we were more successful at making them smoke then they were at making us.

as i said this is definatly confusing. but that is what i believe is trying to be said, and if so i dont really think so, i think that we won because the people were tired of being oppressed, so they did away with the communist regime.

if thats not what is being said, well then hey, at least i made an attempt at this puzzling thread

Well tobacco leeches two types of radioactive materials from the soil and the fertilzer used to make it grow, Polonium and Lead. So did the United States get the Russians to smoke or did corporations get them to smoke?

If corporations got billions of people worldwide to smoke then neither the US or Russia won

Sometimes I have a hard time piecing together cause and effect. Most likely I was genetically doomed to become sick and to smoke. Things are getting better, however, for myself and the USA.

May the USA become the greatest nation in the world again!

Smoking is a personal choice. Both of my parents smoked and my father became sick BECAUSE of smoking. Not the other way around. My wife is a light smoker trying to quit and was never sick. I spent almost 10 years around my parents smoking several packs a day and have never and will never touch a cigarette for as long as I live.

Though it is a personal choice it ia a testament to a Americans freedom to do things that harms themselves and others. And if the tobacco industry has helped the US put foot to ass I don’t think well ever know.

Since this did turn into a bit of a random thread I'll toss this little story in.

I live inthe N/W corner of Arizona and while standing in line at a liquor store a while back - hey, it's dry here, beer tastes good, what can I say - I watched a guy cash his welfare check for about $120.
He bought two cartons of cigarettes and a couple of beers in the big cans.
I about fell over when I heard the cashier ask for $94.

Geez . . . I knew cigs were expensive, but had no idea.

Makes me wonder as well what a pack of brand name cigs go for in New York City?

Not knocking the big apple here, but it does look like an expensive place to live....

I will however guarantee you that if you irradiate a human with a powerful enough source for a sufficient length of time then, yes, at some point they will begin to smoke.

V Kaminski, thank you for your comments. What evidence do you have linking irradiation technology and smoking? I believe there is a connection.

to answer your question...NO!! smoking did not cause you to fail to get your grad degree.

btw...ive smoked 1 pack a day for the last 15 years...

my question to you is...do you drink? (alcohol) or do drugs (weed, coke, etc etc)?

SpanishFly, no drugs ever!!! However, I can never find the best deal on cigarettes.

So what is it we're smoking exactly?

Yeah, you expose someone to enough radiation, for long enough, and they burst into flame, thereby smoking.
