UK Government in 'secret' talks about strike against Iran

Senior MoD and No 10 meet as US assault is considered inevitable

It is believed an American-led attack...is inevitable

...defense chiefs believe the Bush administration is prepared to lauch the attack on its own (with Israel) if international assistance is not forthcoming.
British military chiefs beleive the attack would be limited to a series of air strikes against Iran.

What are we doing? s long as Iran hasn't physically done something to harm us, then why spark another war? We are barely able to maintain our country and our control in Iraq right now. I think a full-scale war with Iran will be the turning point of the American way of life as we know it. I see our demise becoming more and more inevitable as the days and years progress.

And Iran in turn, whilst not having the capability to launch major strikes against the USA and UK, will send out it's proxies and intelligence folks to blow up a few more people in revenge attacks. Thus, the war on terror will be fed and will be used to justify even more curbs on civil liberties in order to protect us

Wouldn't it just be easier to pull out our people from the region and leave them the hell alone?
Is the oil worth one human life to any sane human being? Especially those so called "Christians" in the West?

We already have proven methods that could work besides using oil, why not stop spending billions on war, and mayube that money into research on something that we could produce here in the US?

I don't think it'll hurt that bad if we just stay out of foreign affairs for just a few years to get back on track. Right now it seems that other countries are first on the agenda, and that we come last. I've been a supporter for Bush, and was a supporter for the war for a long time, but now that's quickly changing as I am seeing things develop.

And I'm not just throwing a theory out there when I saw if we go to war with Iran that our country will fall apart, I'm dead serious that that is a MAJOR possibility.

This is deliberate. Mis/dis information.

This is psychological warfare.

This is designed to uncover Iranian strategy. To provoke Iranian action.

Obviously there is no "secret" meeting.

we MAY see a series of airstrikes with the UN blessing, but United States will not do this one alone. I don't think Bush wants to piss off the world twice, he is not that stupid and his advisors are probably telling him to act differently with Iran.

Plus, rememeber all the "reports" that the media aired about the United States going to airstrike North Korea? same mind games.

Correct, and the chaos will lead to the third world war, as more countries will intervent, this time it won't be a one-on-one conflict.

The difference with NK is that they have a nuclear arsenal ready for use, this is contrast to Iran. The US and her allies will do all to prevent Iran from getting any. You'll see the same happening as on the war on terror. ''You choose us or them'', same applies to Iran, they'll try to force Muslim countries to choose as well.

Support might come from countries you won't expect they would, such as Russia, they have major financial interests in Iran. For China it's another scenario, as its economy (still) is too much dependant on the Western economies.

The contrasts between the western and muslim world almost reached the top. I won't think about what happens if we are over the top.

China and Russia will not approve of any attack on Iran.

They have investment in Iran.

i believe its about nuclear power not nuclear bombs. becasue nuclear power and energy gives Iran alot of independence.
thats one theory anyway.

I think any kind of strike on Iran could spark a 3rd world war... because all the big powers are going to be involved somehow, and if it's the US that provokes it, I wonder how many of our allies will actually help since we're basically dragging them into it?

Don't forget the US won't stand alone, other western countries might be dragged into it, but god knows what will happen when Ahmadinejad gets in the possession of nuclear missles, that's not only the thought of the US administration, it's the thoughts of other Western countries as well.

We all know Iran wants these weapons, not the energy, otherwise they would already haven chosen to move their uranium enrichment to Russia.

It's more likely we'll experience new terrorist attacks before the war starts, these guy didn't start to sleep after 9/11. They started immediately thinking of new attacks.

Let's see which country will be the victim this time, I don't expect the US to be the only one.

IMO, I think if Iran, or any other country for that matter, was wanting to attack the US... then I think around this time would actuall be the best time for them. Much of our military is still in Iraq, and we are having many scoietal problems. I think that a powerhouse country could actually have a good chance of at least putting us in check.

You are right, but this would be done in the form of terrorism attacks, not by great military power.

I am convinced Israel will become victim...
