The four prisons are among the least energy-efficient operated by states in this part of the country, according to a booklet the department distributed to the budget committee. Together, they consume about $7.5 million annually in natural gas costs, said Joe Fistrovich, the department's chief financial officer


I think this is a good thing, and hopefully the budget savings will be on target.

Just think, your local prison might go "green" before the cars in your neighborhood do!
