I'm reduced to useing Country Soul's old laptop to gather information.
Our main system has crashed.

The system will not post. Not even a beep.
I turn it on and the lights come on, but it won't show a boot screen, it just stays black, but the lights are on.

Actions I've Taken So Far.

I pulled the power supply and replaced it with a new one.
Replaced the battery on the motherboard.
Pulled out the cards one by one, and re-booted after each.
Replaced the RAM.
Pulled the hard drives and just left the O/S on a single drive.
Swaped out A:, C:, D:, E:, F:, and G: drives.
NOTHING........

I'm down to replacing the the procesor and motherboard, but those are the most expensive parts.

Any suggestions at this point will prevent me from pulling out the rest of my hair.
Do I need to bite the bullet and buy the new board ???
Or can I test what I have and work from there ???

If anyone has an idea that I can explore, I'm open.....
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanx.
anx.........

Hi there AD,

You did some pretty thorough troubleshooting there.
Did you give the motherboard the sniff-test? checking for
even the smallest fried component?
I'm sure you know the acrid smell I'm talking about.

Do you have access to a post card?
Micro 2000 makes them...
You might get a meaningful result..

Hate to say this, but with no post self test running, it sounds like........

R. I. P.

But then again, I'm no genius....

Can you get into bios at all???

I did the sniff test, but no acrid smell.
I'm having a driver bring me a new processor this morning and I'll try that next.

I've never heard of a post card, so I'll take a look on Google for more info on that. Thanx

As suggested by Larry, the mother board might need to rest in peace.
Oh well, crap happens........:bnghd:
