it seems that everyday military action for iran is vanishing even for Uk its something that is not likely going to happen...

LONDON, March 28 (UPI) -- Military action against Iran is neither appropriate nor conceivable, British Foreign Jack Straw insisted Tuesday.

Speaking in London as he launched a Foreign Office white paper outlining Britain's international strategy for the coming decade, Straw moved to allay fears that the current stand-off over Iran's alleged bid for nuclear weapons technology would lead to "another Iraq."

Despite the failure of the United Nations Security Council to reach any agreement on how to deal with Iran's nuclear programs at last week's meeting, the foreign secretary maintained that there was a "growing international consensus in the face of Iran's intransigence."

Straw acknowledged that it would be "hard-going" to secure the backing of all Security Council members for a resolution against Iran. However, he hoped it would be possible to agree "the next step" when the five permanent members -- the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China -- and Germany met in Berlin Thursday, he said.

Countries had "different interests" in Iran, he continued, alluding to Russia's $1 billion contract to build Iran's first atomic reactor at Bushehr and China's heavy reliance on Iranian oil exports for its energy supplies.

Both countries have so far rejected punitive action against the Islamic Republic, fearing that sanctions, economic or otherwise, could harm such interests.

That is because you believe the US or UK will start the war by attacking Iran directly.

Why would either country do that, when there are clearly better ways, more politically savy ways, to force the military solution.

Well yea most likely a direct air strike won't play as well to the american people...so a convenient terror attack here first will scare the pop. then they can blame it on Iran and start the big war of the middle east. and Iran will not be another Iraq no doubt...It'll be the start of chaos, economic collaspe, and the police state.

why not set up a opposition group?, the last time Rice tryed doing something like that she only donated like 100milln to help support the people for a democratic iran but the mullahs just laughed it off. IMO if U.S. wants to win this over she needs to invest heavily and i mean not by the millions and go reach out for the young iranians.

And check out this page for relevant points on why saying this about Iran now means nothing:

Ithought you guys were sophisticated.

Do you honestly think that the United States was sitting at home wringing our hands waiting for the Un-UN to finally, after 11 years and 14 freaking resolutions of toothless nature (flyovers, misguided appeasment programs, oil for food...) and not have PLANS for action???

Naivete' is a good word to describe this way of thinking. Get real.

You do not plan for war over night, nor do you plan hastily and on the expectations that someone else will do the job for you.
