there's a link at the bottom to Nexus Magazine.......

they often come up with interesting stuff, although I find it hard to believe a majority of what they publish.

I agree with you, I want PICTURES dammit!!

I do put faith into stories as long as there is independent confirmation on them. If this guy doesn't have any, then don't take him of any value until he does.

It's hard for me to believe anything without pictures to back it up. Even if it had pictures, I would still look at them closely to make sure they were real and authentic. Hopefully that guy was telling the truth, cause that would be some crazy shiite if there was an Alien base on the Solomon Islands.

I`d say given past discussions on these subjects that if pictures were provided we would stand around ripping them apart, calling them fakes anyway. Although it remains just a story, without any documentary evidence it is intriguing. It also sounds quite dangerous to come in to contact with this group judging what has happened to the locals in the past.

I'm skeptical (no surprise)... and part of it is from the evidence in the writing. This seems (judging from sentence and word structure) to be written by the same person perpetrating the "HAARP frying bazillions of reindeer in Alaska!" nonsense... same writing style, and a lot of other linguistic clues make it sound like the same person.

Compare the www.thesolomongiants.com... (supposedly by the same person.) "thesolomongiants.com" is written by someone whose first language is NOT English (inappropriate and inconsistant capitalization is one cue)... the one writing on the nexus page is someone whose first language IS English.

There's a lot that's known about the Solomon Islands, including the folklore (members.tripod.com...) ... and "dragon snake" appears only in these pages about UFOs.

I think it's a bunch of folks who want to get some serious tourist dollars. There are anthropologists and scientists crawling all over those islands, and if they REALLY wanted an investigation, all they'd have to do is march up to the local university or one of the societies there and ask for some help. They'd get a ton of equipment and a bunch of curious anthropologists poking around.

And it's also interesting that after all that long time, there's no Japanese reports on this and no other reports. Just the UFO reporter who happens to coincidentally be mounting an expedition that you can finance.

Gosh.

Doess he have a book to sell, too?

Why would aliens need a base in the Solomons Islands or anywhere on Earth for that matter? If these supposed beings can travel between stars to reach our planet, surely they would be able to construct a base-of-operations far away from the prying eyes of humanity. Why risk it by putting a base on the planet when you can just as easily observe from a distance?

How would you actually know if they were real and authentic or fakes produced in photoshop or whatever?

I'm not trying to be rude, but I doubt most people here who claim to know whether a photo is fake or real, have any experience as image analysts to even know where to begin.

Besides the very very, very obvious fakes..

The same old rubbish

Guy: "I see Aliens coming in/out of their base everyday on these islands but I never thought of taking a camera with me".

Other: "Ok I'll bring my camera and we'll go along and see what happens"

(they go to the location and after 3 days of waiting)

Guy: "Well what dy'know, the Alien Superbase has suddenly disappeared and the Aliens have vanished..well I never."

While I am dubious about any bases on our planet's soil, I don't think we could guess why. I'd think the reason would be you know.. sort of alien to us.

While I never mind healthy skepticism, I never quite understood the "omg why would aliens do that?" response. "Omg why would aliens need blinking LIGHTS on their ships?" Who knows why? Just because there ARE blinking lights doesn't rule out an alien craft. Just because we can't fathom a reason why, doesn't preclude it as a possibility.

Oh.. and edit to add: Yes, without pictures, this is worthless. How can you NOT get pictures? geeze...

Well his story and website are down now. So kind of makes this pointless now. was it claimed to be a modern alien base or an alien base that was really old?

New quakes rock Solomon Islands after tsunami

HONIARA (AFP) – A string of fresh earthquakes rocked the western Solomon Islands late Tuesday and early Wednesday but there were no early reports of damage or casualties, officials said.

The largest earthquake late Tuesday had a magnitude of 6.9, followed by five aftershocks measuring at least 5.0 in the isolated region about 300 kilometres (185 miles) west of the capital Honiara.

The latest tremors followed a series of quakes on Monday, with the largest one of 7.9 causing a tsunami estimated at eight feet (nearly 2.5 metres) high.

I'm sure the fact the Solomns is on the Ring of Fire has nothing to do with the quakes. IT MUST BE ALIENS!!11!1!!

Yes, there can be no natural explanations for the quakes indeed. Must be related to Aliens/Ufo's.

Why this was brought up after a perfectly explainable and natural occurrence serves as an example of folks reaching for the least probable conclusion in order to enforce their fantasy/ignorance.
