The Australian Goverment has called for calm in of Indonesia's anger of asylum to 42 West Papuans.
Indonesia's ambassador has ben recalled because the the Goverments granting asylum to the Papuans.

The Papuans has accused Jakarta of committing genocide.

Hope both sides sort this out

Thanks for starting this thread as I hadnt heard about this problem in our news here in UK.

The situation in West Papua is a difficult one as there is a movement for Independance
going on there from Indonesia.

The history of West Papua is very different from the rest of Indonesia, although it was also
a Dutch Colony originally, it remained Dutch until the mid 60's whereas the rest of Indonesia
was formed in 1946 I think.

The people are different from the rest of Indonesia and have sort their own independance,
especially after East Timor was allowed to become an Independant State a few years ago.

I hope this current situation can be resolved peacefully and that the Indonesians dont take
any action in West Papua to make matters worse.
