I would really, really, really like to have an email address ending in @abovetopsecret.com. That would almost be as cool as an ATS T-shirt.

So, let's get something started to bring the ATS Email system back!

If anyone else would like this as well, please reply so the mods can see how many people want this function back.
If no one replies, I will be very heartbroken . . .

An ATS Webmail address was about the first thing I tried to get after joining ATS and was very disappointed when I found it was discontinued.

It would be great if it was brought back again.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think that the provision of the ATS Webmail service produced too much strain on the server, chewing up loads of bandwidth.

Fast loading pages across the board and rare crashes, or an email that sounds cool. Not a difficult choice, IMO.

Surely there would be some way to offload the email ssystem so that it didnt slowdown the main site?

Anyhow, I'm all for it!

GMail offer's hosted email for domains now.

www.google.com...

You'd still get a user@abovetopsecret adress, it would just route to your gmail account. This would probably be the best option.

It required me to sign up as a business seeking an email account. I said I was from ATS, but this Beta thing is new and they'll have to contact me and all that. An ATS hosted account is just the way to go.

You can't sign up for ATS Hosted email ... the webmaster need's to do this as he own's the domain.

I like the sound of that.......
I think if there was a way for ATS to set something up with gmail it would be a popular feature among the members.

Count me in for an acct. if it gets set-up.

It was one of the first things I wanted to get when I joined ATS as well. But I don't think any newb should be allowed to make an account if they brought it back, that would truely ruin the server.

I'd be happy to pay 50,000 ATS points for an ATS Mail account, and then pay like 1000 points a month to keep it running even (Similar to RATS). It would just kick that much butt that it'd be worth it
. And it would certainly keep the n00bs out. If we can handle almost 4 gigs of podcasts about nothing for the most part, surely we can handle a few hundred email accounts with a 5-25 MB limit or so. (Hey, we can make extra mail space cost more points as well
.)

But there have been boards like this a dozen times or more, and every time they say that there are no plans to bring it back. So, hope is lost
haha.

I got mine when they first came out, and it still works just fine. It IS, however, having a problem sometimes where it doesnt send out an email at times. It uses your username, so you couldnt have a different one
.

50, 000 points and 1, 000 per month is way to much. I've been a member for half a year and I have just over 5, 000 total points. They are hard to get. Maybe 10, 000 to join and more points to up the ridiculously small storage space?

And I didn't know there have been posts like this. So much for an original idea . . .

It was getting more spam than AOL and it was a drag on the system.

Still got mine and it works fine.

And is there really ATS t-shirts available now to buy? I remember years ago there was talk about t-shirts coming out but I never stuck around to hear about it.

We cancelled offering NEW accounts months ago. OBVIOUSLY we didn't just shut down the existing ones.
