why USA needs iran from military to regoinal influence

US and EU both know the controll we have about iraq and thats why the US has accepted the talk between Iran. after the withdrawl from iraq, iran will handle the job . Details between both iran and US is to be released soon also between the negotiations on iraq.

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Member of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy commission stressed that a withdrawal of the occupying troops from Iraq is the most significant prerequisite for attending talks with the United States.

Speaking to FNA's desk of foreign policy on Saturday, Hasan Sobhani stated that the Islamic Republic has accepted the demand to attend talks with the US in order to help restore security and stability in Iraq, "thus, we would attend the talks whenever the prerequisites are materialized."

Stating that both the US and EU are informed of Iran's regional influence, he said that the relevant parties know very well that a restoration of full security and calm in Iraq is conditioned on soliciting the issue from Iran.

Representative of Neyshabour at the Islamic Consultative Assembly stressed that Tehran accepted to attend the talks following repeated demands by the Iraqi officials and Washington, and reminded that the United States and England are responsible for the current extensive insecurities in Iraq.

Noting recent position-takings of the US officials, he mentioned that Americans have adopted different views and stances about talks with Iran, and continued, "yet, Islamic Republic's role and influence on the restoration of clam in the region may never be ignored by anyone."

Questioned why Abdul Aziz Hakim has not demanded US talks with another country, he reiterated that the very same issue indicates Iran's strong influence on Iraq and the region.

Details of Iran-US talks to be released soon

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian foreign minister announced that his country has decided to attend talks with the US but stressed that negotiations will merely center on the Iraqi issue.

Iranian foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here on Saturday that his country would attend talks with the United States in order to help the accomplishment of the political trend of the establishment of an independent government in Iraq and render support to the people of that country.

He further added, "as a powerful regional state which shares common borders with Iraq and is committed to aid that country, Islamic Republic of Iran holds authentic and influential views about the Iraqi issue and that's why it is solicited in this regard.

Mottaki stressed that his country would attend talks with the US merely on the Iraqi issue and ways of rendering help and assistance to that country, and continued, "we believe that all the present problems in Iraq are rooted in the United States' contradictory words and actions, yet we hope to take the final and complementary steps of helping Iraq by attending talks with the US, as demanded by the Iraqi leaders, Seyyed Abdul Aziz Hakim in particular."

Speaking on the sidelines of a convention of Iranian ambassadors and heads of Iran's representative houses abroad, Mottaki mentioned that the seminar focused on familiarizing Iranian diplomats with the new foreign policy approaches of Ahmadinejad's administration.

Now that, is funny. You mean to tell me that the US, after all the blood that has been spilled, after all the lives that have been lost, after all the money that has been spent, after all that and more, is going to let IRAN take over after we leave? Wake UP man.

I don't think Iran can just take over, the US would never allow that to happen. I'd also be curious to know how Iran would deal with those parts of Iraqi society who didn't want Iran to play a larger role in Iraq?

But, it is true that if we are to stabilize Iraq, Iran's help seems very important if not necessary. I don't think Iran has much of an interest in seeing Iraq in civil war, in the long term. They may have their own ideas for who gets to lead Iraq, but I don't think continuous warfare would do them much good.

It's kind of a shame it won't happen. Part of the bigger shame that we lost Iran to begin with, which really was (or could have been) a natural ally of the US. I could see, just maybe, the Clinton and Khatami governments coming up with some kind of arrangement.. but Bush and Ahmadinejad? Not a bash on Bush, but both governments have gone in some extreme directions since the 90s.
