Hi, I hope someone out there can help me. I have tried, unsuccessfully for the past 4 hours to download this 15mb HP printer driver. The problem is my ISP sucks.

Well, thats part of the problem. The other part of the problem is that the HP ftp site doesn't support file download resuming, so no download manager will help. What I would like to ask, if anyone can help, is for someone to download the file and re-upload it to some server that supports resuming. Just for a day or two.

Can anyone help me?

The file can be found on this page.

Do you by chance use WinRAR? I could split the file into smaller parts and put them up.

I just don' t know if my ISP supports resume.

I assume by your resume comment, that you are using an FTP app? Or is it just a downloader?

I have your file, and have it on my ISP FTP server.
If that fails (no resume), we can put it on my FTP box, as that server supports resume (at least it does of FTP Clients, don't know about downloaders). I can just make a temp login for that. Don't like to with someone I don't know, but I hate someone trying so hard to get a needed file - but can't.

Send me a U2U with your email addy, as I don't post or U2U my FTP addresses.

Oh, and it's US$2.99/MB handline fee

Hi,

Yes I have WinRar. By resume I mean I use an external download manager extension for firefox called "Down-Them-All" that has this resume function so that if the download gets broken, I can pick up where I left off.

But splitting it up into megabyte sized parts with WinRar is a good idea as well.

Cool, drop me a U2U with your (any) email, you can try as is, and see if my ISP supports resume.

If not, how far in MB's does a DL get? In other words, what size do you need the files for WinRAR?

Sent you a u2u with my email and some other details.

The most I've managed to download was 7 mb before it timed out, but most times the download gave up on me after 2 mb. That's why download managers like Down-Them-All, GetRight, FlashGet or Download Accelerator Plus are so important to people like me.

I can't do anything about my ISP

They're a virtual monopoly in this country, that's why they don't give two hoots about the quality of their service. I wish some minister moved in to my area, that will surely improve the quality of service, no doubt

^Bump^

Ok folks, NoNik helped me out just now by offering megabyte sized rar parts of the whole 15mb file I was trying to download. After downloading the 17 pieces it was split into, I found that I couldn't rejoin them because some of the pieces were corrupted.

To add to my frustration, the server he hosted the files, through no fault of his own, doesn't support resuming either. So even if he were to host the original file, it wouldn't make any difference, since the original HP ftp server doesn't support file resuming as well.

So now I'm back to where I started.

Time elapsed since I first tried downloading the file: 7 hours.

Please help me

Thanks

Ok, download in progress. Please bear with me, my connection is only speedy when downloading via torrents. Right now the estimated time it will take is 30-40 minutes.

As long as it takes. Just let me know when it's completed.

Glad ya got your file Beachcoma.

I DL'd the files I put up, when I put them up, and extracted just fine. Then I got your U2U about it being corrupt, and DL'd them again, and they were screwed. Be damned if I know what happened. Only thing I can think of is that because of a re-vamping that is going on with my ISP, of which we received a mail saying personal websites and email may not be, sporadically, abailable. I am guessing that meant they are moving files, of which mine got corrupted. Glad I don't use webspace there, be highly upset if a site got screwed, heh.

OK then - get to printing !!
