Hot pepper kills prostate cancer cells in study

Capsaicin, which makes peppers hot, can cause prostate cancer cells to kill themselves, U.S. and Japanese researchers said on Wednesday.

Capsaicin led 80 percent of human prostate cancer cells growing in mice to commit suicide in a process known as apoptosis, the researchers said.

Prostate cancer tumors in mice fed capsaicin were about one-fifth the size of tumors in untreated mice, they reported in the journal Cancer Research.

Cool then my chances are lowered as well because I love hot peppers also. This is also good because my dad had prostrate cancer which increases my chances, maybe if this is true I am back to neutral as far as my chances.

FYI - I don't think capsaicin needs to be hot - just red. (Open to more info tho) It's the main ingredient in paprika too. ...and paprika often is an ingredient in curry.

All good stuff.

Go locate some Pakistani or Indian restarants, if you're in an Indian place, ask for Paan. Be warned though, it makes you smell like what you eat

Soficrow, capsaicin is what makes it hot.

The nature of capsaicin.

So the more capsaicin, the better.
