Volunteer For UFO Symposium
Give your time to help with the four-day UFO Symposium event or
become involved in a variety of library services. These are just
a few of the many volunteer opportunities available through the
Volunteer Center at San Juan College.
Friends of the Aztec Library are especially in need of help with
the upcoming UFO Symposium, scheduled for Thursday, March 23
through Sunday, March 26. Volunteers are needed to help with a
variety of Symposium events including a space art and writing
contest, the welcome dinner, a scavenger hunt, costume contest,
used book sale and tours of the "alleged" crash site. New to
this year's symposium is the Frank Scully Film Competition.
Volunteers also are needed as part of the film and audio crews.
Those interested in volunteering at the UFO Symposium should
plan to attend a meeting on Monday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. at
the Aztec Library, 319 S. Ash Ave., next to San Juan College
East, or call the Aztec Library at 334-7657.
The Aztec Library also needs help with other services throughout
the year such as assisting with children and adult programs,
helping with the gift and book shop, lending a hand with the
Kids on the Block Puppet Troupe, tutoring and providing computer
assistance.
Groups may choose to help with special events including the UFO
Symposium and the Mountain Bike Race. Youngsters, 12 years and
older, are needed during the summer months to volunteer their
time as readers and tutors.
The Volunteer Center at San Juan College maintains a directory
of more than 100 community organizations and agencies needing
volunteer services. For further information regarding the
volunteer opportunity listed above or other agencies in need of
assistance, call the Volunteer Center at 566-3293, Monday
through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
