Singapore school orders students to remove bra

Now this is just wrong. Too much, if you ask me. And it has nothing to do with that recent cancer research.



A bit drastic, in the name of enforcing discipline, don't you think? :shk:

If the rule of the school is that you can't wear those colours, even in terms of underwear, then those are the rules, why shouldn't they be enforced?

Yes the rules should be inforced, but at what cost?

Are you actually defending the school for making young girls remove their bra and be humiliated like this? Yes they probably were aware of the rules, and yes they obviosly broke them. But the school is in no position to do this to any girl.

They should have sent them home to do this.

Interesting ... I wonder if they make the guys that have man-boobs wear bras during gym classes? Or even during regular school periods, after all the sight of unleashed bouncy man-boobs may be too much for some other adolescent males and some adult instructors to handle.

Exactly. That's what the other school did.

Others had informed the parents before asking the students to leave the school to change their bras.

There's one thing you all should know about schools in this region. Students wear uniforms. It's not like in America where you can wear pretty much anything as long it's within regulations. No, not that way. All students have to wear uniforms, and for the most part, the uniforms are white.

That's right, white cotton, the type that borders transparent and opaque. More so if it rains or gets wet. Or white linen, still rather thin. The point is, if you remove the bra and, well, the view changes.

Can you see (no pun intended) why this whole getting rid of the bra issue is an issue?

Ok, while I respect the right of Singapore to have it's won rules, I have to say, that's the stupidest dress code rule I've ever heard.


I think that the girl's should have been just asked to go home and change.

I'd really like to know why they have this rule in the first place. O_o; I don't understand how a different colored bra could even be disruptive to school activity.

I mean, men don't usually care what color the bra is. >_>

Anyway, this whole situation is very unfair and wrong...

The fact the school has rules and deemed the colored bras innapropriate, doesn't seem that bad but --

having the students REMOVE the bras is way overboard. The fact they provided white bras though to replace the colored ones is probably a good move though.

In conclusion, this reminds me of the fact Singapore is amazingly strict - even littering will grant you an astonishing fine (even jail time?).

It's called conformity and I think it should be fully enforced. Rules are rules and should be adhered to - I'm sure they are well publicisied throughout the school.

I remember when I was in Middle school and there was a strict uniform policy - black socks, shoes, pants, blazer, white shirt and school tie - the only additional clothing were a "white" t-shirt under the shirt and a coat for bad weather. All other wear and accessary were strictly prohibited. I remember many a times being kept back in school an hour just for having my shirt untucked or wearing socks other than black, etc. It worked - people conformed, no one stood out and there was little bullying of anykind.

Come upper school and the removal of school uniform, it was a completely different scenario. People chatting about their clothes, accessaries, etc. There was also a lack of severe discipline. Bring back the good old days of the cain and strict discipline. Boy, I still remember when I was punished by my father with a stick, slipper or coal poker. The good old days

Just imagine, it would eliminate a majority of the problems we experience with the youth today
